What do you guys think of the new bottoms of the hyperlite boards

i think its a great idea even though there still not warrentied if you hit sliders they still have to last longer than the regular bottoms

I talked to a Hyperlite Rep and he said that the jib base is made of a very similar material to that of skateboarding wheels. I dug it

I think it is a good idea to add it to the boards. I personally feel Origin is going in the right direction and is ahead of the curve by making it a slider base that IS carried under the MFG warranty. If they make a big deal out of this new base that is suppossed to hold up to sliders, why not warranty it against sliders. It seems more and more people are hitting sliders and kickers or going to cable parls. I think ALL the board companies should make a slider board that is covered like origin.

Don't know about the new bottoms, but I ride a '01 Belmont 134 and it has plenty of pop. I get just as much pop on it as the Byerly board, and that one is loaded with rocker. I love my Belmont!

Just a thought...
You don't think Hyperlite put the same bottom on the 03 boards, as the 02 boards and just called it something different do you? No, they wouldn't do that.

Weren't the bottoms to the 02's all shiny and stuff, or was that just a few of them?? The only 02' board i saw was the drifter and the Premier so I don't know. But the base on the Byerly looks thick and different than either of those for sure.

yeah.... I have a bunch of friends that hate that board and thinks it has no pop. But it is there opinion, they can ride and most are sponsered. So it is more on comfort and what appeals to you. If you do not like it, fine.... Why stress so much and talk some crap aobut how good you think the board is and how good you claim to be. It's a board, that is it.

I dont know if my 03 premier dna 140 has that bottom or not but it sucks on sliders.i only used it twice on a ramp and slider and the bottom looks like crap and the rail is delaming already..Real nice for a 2 month old board !

BTW the 02/03 belmonts suck as well all my friends have ripped more then one pair each already and cant keep a pair more then a month or so before having to send them back..

First, i wanted to say that people shouldn't say smat is stupid and he can't ride. There are tons of people that can't ride a byerly because of the rocker, so it is totally dependent on style and opinions.

Second, I have never seen the new bases on the hyperlites and I know I will never ride one, but the jib base sounds like a good idea. However, In regards to warranties and such, I really dont' think it is reasonable to expect them to give you a new board because you wrecked it on a jib. Yeah, they call it the jib base and in a perfect world, they would stand behind it, but the jib base is only something to prolong the life of your board if you decide to use it under "abnormal" circumstances (you know, not off of a wake). For instance, snowboarding companies have sintered bases that help the board absorb wax better and help make the board durable. However, if you hit a rock or if you jib with that deck, your warranty is automatically void. In conclusion, a jib base is a good idea because it should supposedly extend the life of your board, but don't expect a brand new deck because you crushed the rail or something on a jib. Happy riding.

electric snow,

dude, you dont even know what the hell is going on. I get at least 15 feet of pop straight up off the wake and usually about 20feet in the flats with a six foot cut. Off a double up, I routinely go so big, I start to swing back towards the boat because the rope wont go out any farther. And smat is an idiot.
