Thought it had been awhile since we had a girly girly topic in here...since the nail discussion I believe so thought it would be safe to put this one up. Anyone else think their hair loves lake water? Man when I'm in lake water often my hair feels/looks/does better...the more often the better. For example when we go on our yearly houseboat trip and I'm only getting lake showers...my hair is softer than ever. I don't know...it's like lake water doesn't strip as many of the natural oils or something like tap water does. I know...lame girly question but hey it's a slow day in the ladies lounge _________________ Cause we are strictly business and we also got our pride

hmm, maybe it's a hardwater vs. softwater issue? I can't remember the differences and the effects of each, but...just a thought. _________________ www.under360.com |

| We have a cabin on a lake and during the summer I go down to the lake and wash my hair all the time. I do have to agree it makes my hair a lot more shiny and smooth. Maybe its because the lake water doesn't have all the chemicals and such they use to treat tap water. |

Maybe different hairs react differently to different water. did you get that? Lots of people complain about their hair when they swim in pools, but I think that chlorine makes my hair softer My hair has held up pretty well with how often I'm in the lake... |

being a stylist I can give you a little insight into what works:
Redken Sunshape Swim Cream
protective hair cream for sun and sport.
comes in spray or in a 'thick creamy' squirt bottle which I buy then dilute with some water in a spray bottle to spritz on all day long.
Hats are good too to keep your hair outta the direct sunlight.
also bumble and bumble has a 'protec hair cream' leave in. thick but good.
kinda pricey , but good.
check out my website www.angisimpson.com then click on "Insight" it has some 'summer maintenance" tips for hair.
I think its kool to be 'cute and wakeboard' I was sick of seeing all these 'manly type women' who look like they don't 'get pretty' outta the water. When I am on the water I am all about wakeboarding, when I am off I want my hair and clothes to be 'stylish' not still LOOK like one of the guys.. then wow the boys with my interest and knowledge in wake/skate/skim/wakesurfing!!! |

yea.....when i go up to my river house(its on a river right off of a spring) my hair is always feeling its best. The water up there is so like pure and natural, i duno what it is but it alwayse feels its best. But where i mornally board which is in the salt water..........wow.....the salt water kills my hair, it makes it really nasty, it leaves it feeling really "straw like"....
and yea wakejunky girl....i get so mad when i see girl wakeobarders out there that dont care ne thing bout how they look......not so much how they look i guess but its like there trying to be a boy and not care.....like when i wake boarding i (sounds kinda dumb) but i always wear my hair up and i always pur a ribbon in it....it sounds dumb but i was at a comp and after the comp a lady came up to me and actually said "u looked so cute...i hate seeing girls look all butch out there so i loved seeing u out there w/ a lil ribbon" and i got like a bunch of other compliments from guys too.......just saying like nice work with ramaning a girl on and off the water
haha just thought id add that lil ribbon bit _________________ Live free

I don't notice the difference between lake water and tap water on my hair 'cuz I'm too busy trying to comb out my new dreads after boating...yes, if i put my hair up then it wouldn't get knotted...but i just love having the wind rush through my locks...haha...is anyone weird like me in that way?
Leave in conditioner definitly helps tho...one summer I swam in this one pool that ruined my hair so much that after washing it three times I still wasnt able to pull a comb through...so i asked a hairdresser (tee hee) and she said that I should also put a generous amount of conditioner in my hair before swimming...i never had another problem with heavy chlorine ruining my hair. _________________ "Death isn't a reason to live slowly.
