JetPilot Vest

There seems to be a big fuss over the new JetPilot vests. I've read a little bit about them but what's all the hoopla?

Secondary topic: Do you personally wear your rash guard over or under?

Personal preference. Mine: O'neill - I've never gone wrong there. I have a buddy who has a neo side entry JP vest and he hates it because it rolls up on the sides near the entry point.

You have a rash guard that fits over?! I thought they were supposed to be skin tight!

My answer is: under.

ive never seen them over the vest maybe hes thinking of a competition jersey, i hardly even see people using them, i think their more for surfing

I love the new Jet Pilot vest the "cell block". It is coast guard approved and it is very comfortable. I am a big fan of Jet Pilot. The new vest is side entry and also streches in the places were the stance does not.

wakebored, as long as they fix the problem. I could see it coming up on him and it looked annoying as hell.

I love JP's other stuff, just not as much as O'Neill. I even have a JP sleeveless neo shirt (not a rashguard) that I wear when I ride.

the rash guard goes under, and works kinda like a wetsuit.

at comps, pros wear bibs (or jersey or whatever you wanna call it) over their vests. not sure exactly why they do this, the only reason i can think of is to get the advertisers more exposure by putting their logos on the bibs.

yeah that's exactly right scott. As if we don't get beated with logos every minute, but that's whay they do it. Sometimes there is a number on the bib...

I have a JP side entry and love it. Not sure what model it is though. It's snug, light, and works well. And I never leave home without my rash quard. I tend to get heat rash if I'm out for a long time, so it helps.

Rash guards dont really make you much warmer at all. If you are looking at being warm get a neoprene top.

the pros put the Jerseys on becasue it has there number on it for the judges. i think rash guards are pointless. they don't provide warmth and were made for surfers when they are out on the water all day long.

CenturionDad if you are interested in Jetpilot vests and other gear call 1-800-JETPILOT ask them if you can get a 2004 catalog, this way you can get the true info, im sure JP will be more than happy to send you one. Also get one from some other companies, it helps to compair things!

JP has two new vests out the A-10 (a diff. design than molded stance with new removable side molds) and the Cell Block (USCGA vest, it has different sections of foam to help make it less bulky and lighter)

I like the looks of the new Bonifay ones.... different.....I've had a jet pilot, but imo Oneill is the best.....oneill outlaw.....nothing is more comfy

I would go Oneill as well. JP side entry zippers have had a tendency to break. This isnt even a big deal, as they hook you up with another one, but the problem is when the zipper breaks the jacket basically falls off!! At least if you busted a zipper on a front entry, the armholes stay intact and keep the jacket on you somewhat.

jason_ssr, I've taken some really bad crashes. Even thrown my vest one the ground at my board etc...and the sipper hasnt broken...

wakeriderof87, The cell block will come out in the earily spring. It is a sweet vest if you like the jet pilot stance. It has more streach, the belt is made into the vest, and is segmented for flex.

As for the zipper breaking, i haven't had a problem with that. I ride all the time and the people i ride with wear jet pilot vest too and that has never happened. Not saying that it doesn't, but jet pilot has a great return service.

My old Stance's zipper broke on a hard bail. Apparently they fixed the zippers in/after 2002 though.

Rash shirt under vest. I wear one wakeboarding for sun protection as I burn. Don`t have to worry about it then.

What is the point in a wakeboard specific vest? What is the difference between a regular life vest, and acuall wakeboard specific ones? I have one that doesn't absorb water, don't remember the name. Whats the benifits?

regular ones are not that comfortable, very bulky. "wakeboarding vests" or any neoprene vest will be more comfortable, some will offer better protection in areas you will want it more (ribs,kidney area), some will have better movement abilities, and there are some that maybe dont absorb water but they have mesh/holes on the bottom to drain the water so it doesnt get all heavy, if u can go to a shop and try em on

M3Orion, i wasnt saying there should be lime green in that design (id doesnt match, your correct) i was just saying in general. For exp. take the molded stance red color, it sort of sparkles kind of metallic, now make it lime green.

ontrider, personally i see no major purpose for the baller except for its killer looks, but that seems to vary from person to person. I am currently trying to design a vest with JP, it is a combo of molded and the baller type.
