|
| ok so heres the deal, i recently bought a 1993 mastercraft 225 maristar. over the winter i was planning on putting a tower on it and stereo board racks and the normal stuff. but an opportunity just arose to buy a 1999 moomba outback. it has a tower on it already. i would have about 2 thousand more in the moomba but not enough to worry about money wise. so boat to boat, which would you rather have? thanks |

Neither. If used, I'd get...
Super Air
Super Sport
VLX
X-Star
Sanger V210
Moomba Mobius V
If it's absolutely between the 225 and the Outback, I'd keep the 225. _________________ my demo reel

| For $2,000 more the Moomba sounds like a better deal. Less hours I assume and its already fitted with a tower. You will spend that on a tower for yours. Plus, the boat is 6 years newer than your Mastercraft. Good luck..... |

| ok let me rephrase that, the moomba will be 2 grand more after the mastercraft has been outfitted with a tower and racks and stereo. so the complete 225 package, not how it is now. understand? |

I rode behind an '02 Outback and was really unimpressed. The wake is soft and round. My buddy has a '93 centurion that puts out a much better wake. If the Mastercraft is in good condition ie: motor is still strong, go with that. _________________

| I say keep what you got until you can get something like what jumalian posted. But ride behind the moomba or any boat for that matter sacked out and see for yourself what you like. |

| Moombas ride fine in rough water. Yeah, go ahead and try the Maristar in rough water, its gonna be funny when you try to turn with no tracking fins. What were they thinking by leaving those out? |

slopoke, For me it would depend on a few things: Do you have any problems with the Mastercraft now? Is the Moomba in as nice or better condition? Do you really need to upgrade or is it a nice thing to have?
I work hard for my money and purchased my ride after refinancing the house (and a short argument with the wife!) I also did a lot of research (looks like your doing some here) So I knew what features I wanted and could afford. I also got the dealer I bought it from to throw in a few extra's, cabin heater, anchor and rope, coast guard kit. Even though I bought it used it was a big chunk of change.
Remeber, it is a decision you have to live with, Choose wisely. _________________ twins? TWINS?? |

The only way to decide is to go out in the water with both. Ohh and speaking of turtles, wear a turtle neck. |

| well the master craft has recently had the interior reupholstered. i have a 4 bladed prop, on it. it was, or is, about to recieve a tower and stereo. the boat is in overall good condition. so after i get the mastercraft the way i want it, it would be a really nice boat, and 2k less then the moomba. bu the moomba like people have said, is 6 years newer. that is what is getting at me. both boats are carburated. both would have towers. both are nice inside and out. so it really comes down to which is the better boat. that why i wanted some outside opinion. thanks |

Keep your boat and save up for one of the boats Jumalian listed when you can afford them. _________________ Join the Surfrider Foundation at www.surfrider.org |

| I would go with the moomba.. Just like the others already said, 6 years is a lot of difference. How much difference in hours is there ? |

I would definately go with the MC. I don't know about the newer Moomba's but the older ones quality don't match up with MC _________________ The Dude abides! |

| The MC will hold its value a lot better that the momba. Since it is a '93 it has mostly depriciated out. The momba will still loose a tone of value. Plus old momba's are not even close to the quality of MC even if it is a '93. |

| I disagree, based solely on re-sale in the future. A newer boats depreciation rate is a lot slower and if you decide to sell in 5 years I am guessing that you will get a better price on the Moomba. Plus you get to say "moomba" hehe "moomba" |

A 1984 Ski Nautique 2001 hull with lots of hours and little in features still goes for 8K..
Explain "newer boat depreciation being slower"?
This old boat holds it's value better than most anything out there and it's almost an antique. why is that? _________________ PEACE

| Consider the resale value. That's why the MC is still up there. I would personally go Nautique. Can't go wrong with Correct Craft. |

| Stephan, I have to disagree as well. Are you saying a brand new boat or newer boat will depreciate slower than an older boat? Doesn't work that way. |
