i am in wakeboard withdrawl. it has been about 2 months since i last wakeboarded and let me tell you it SUCKS. well, nj sucks anyway, but this year we only got about 4 good months of wakeboarding weather and i'm so bummed. anyone know of a cheap place i can go to wakeboard for a few days...maybe a camp or something similar, but one close enough to NJ that i wouldn't have to fly? i hate not being able to board, but it's just too cold for most of the year here. who wants to take me wakeboarding where it is warm all year???? any takers Mr. Green Laughing Cool

I hear you shadybetz, I live in Wisconsin and i feel the same way, I walk around in my bindings in my dorm hall to break them in, i tie my handle to the ironing board outside my room to practice 3's, and i sit on this site at nights wishing i coudl be boarding. I know exactly how you feel. Snowboarding will dampen the withdrawl though Very Happy Razz Very Happy

I can't buy a drysuit b/c i freeze to death in a wetsuit, and just walking around everyday with tons of layers on. It would be terrible for me to get into freezing cold water, then sit in a boat that is blowing freezing cold air on me. If it was just a little bit warmer water or air, i would be all over it, but it is too cold for me. I just need to move to florida or arizona or somewhere that it is...until then, i have to go somewhere warm for a few days to ride or i am going to DIE!!!! Crying or Very sad

Hey man...If it means getting hypothermia still go out and ride. Seriously if u have a dry suit u should be fine. My personal problem is affording the dry suit.

priorities young grasshopper, shadybetz55, drysuits are not as expensive as you think when you can justify extending your riding season....

Drysuit - $350
Tix, Hotel, Food, Etc.. to ride someplace warm in the winter - +$1000

If I were you I wold buy the drysuit and ride on your home turf. Pay $350 once or pay for each trip to the warmer climate...... But then again I don't mind the cold.

Maybe Santa will bring you a drysuit....have you been a good lil' girl?

ok so im thinking you can either die from wakeboarding withdrawls, or you can die from being cold doing something that you love...wakeboarding.

to tell you the truth, wetsuits and drysuits are much different. when you are wearing a drysuit and you are done riding, you just take it off and you put on a few more layers. your body will be dry (except your face, feet and hands which will be very cold. my feet usually get numb or close to it and that is what ends my set haha). since you are dry (and actually quite warm depending on how much you wear underneath your drysuit), you wont be as cold from the windchill.

The last time I rode was back in Oct., when I was in NorCal. I never really itched to ride once I got back to Seattle, since it's so effing cold here. Not until now...I'm hurtin' to ride!

shadybetz55, with drysuits, you can wear a sweat spants and a sweat shirt under it and I garantee you will be so hot your face will turn red. Hands and feet do get cold but if you want to ride in the cold, a drysuit is the way to go.

well i'm glad to hear about all of these drysuit issues, but unfortunately the boat i ride on is out of the water anyway, so i guess i'm all out of options. no one i know in nj keeps their boat in the water or attempts to put it in during the winter...i guess no one around here is as die hard as you all are. if i had my own boat it might be a different story (if i had a heater on the boat), but for now, im out of luck unfortunately. damnit...no ice sliders this year....that sucks.... maybe I'll make a huge ice cube and float it when I ride....gotta get that on video...

btw, if you have a heated garage, you don't need to winterize your boat... therefore you can ride year round, even in NJ.

I haven't been riding since September, it sucks. I go out to the garage everyday and just see the boat sitting there and it make me want to go riding so bad. I need to buy a drysuit or go snowboarding sometime soon.
