I threw this together using some footage I got from July 03, the water was bad and it was cloudy so I didnt think it would amount to much, but sure enough it turned out to be pretty decent footage.

Im still getting used to Premiere 6.5, I fooled around with transitions and contrast settings to give it more of a film look, but like I said it was cloudy so the lighting is sub-par. But its a solid set, nice backside spins and some stylin Necrason grabs. I unfortunately missed a hs bs 7 off the 2up and a roll to revert off an oncoming boats wake.

Here it is, tell me what you think..

Very cool footage, and the editing is pretty sweet considering what you said before. I love Necrason's style, one of the best, his elephant was unreal and the grab 180's look sick. I also love his rolls to revert, I think it's cause he bends his legs back so far with the grab, definitely a sweet video and with one of the most unappreciated riders out there.

I wish I could watch it, but my puter freaks out on .mov. Any way you can compress to Windows Media?

Thanks Patrick and JDogg, funny how you can just point and shoot and still get results when you have that caliber of rider behind the boat!

And yeah Joe Ill encode it as a mpeg2 either tonight or tomorrow, no problem.

Thanks Jim. Try exporting to Windows Media @384K/sec (or higher) preset...a lot easier!

Jim M, nice work good buddy. It's always fun to play with software and figure out new stuff.

Thank you for putting it to a quality soundtrack. Pop gets old (whether it's pop hip hop, pop punk, pop whatever). Not many people have heard of The Album Leaf. I dig it.

Nice video and editing. You seem to have done a good job with it.
You asked for what I thought, so that's the positive, here's the constructive critisizm. All you had to do was say Gregg Necrason and I knew exactly what tricks (and exactly what they looked like) were most likely in the video. In other words, I could have watched mayday and seen most of those tricks. He's done those same tricks for years and years, it's getting a little old.
Now, I know what he does when he rides is out of your control, but what I'm saying is, I personally would rather see some local bad a$$ that I haven't seen much of before than somebody I've seen in every video for the last 5 years.

I totally agree with you derrick. Necrason is very boring to watch these days. I think he's stopped doing more tricks than he has learned. Like whatever happen to his switch petes(xmobes) and crow mobes? All he does now is variations of these tricks; switch fronts, backside spins, grabs, and ocasional roll to blind or kgb.

Although I gotta agree with you guys about Necrason's staleness, there are a couple things I feel he should be credited with at the same time.

1) He's a real nice guy and has treated me and my friends real good when I've met him.

2) He's got some sweet style that is all his own.

Jumalian, I must not be as good as Gregg so I cant have an opinion about his riding right?

Toothpick, I agree he does have a good unique style. But that doesnt mean just stop progressing. Look at Randy Harris. Not only does he have is own style, he is constantly pushing his riding.

Who knows? But, you should put a vid up so we can rate your riding, like you so eloquently did w/ Gregg's riding.

The point is, Jim didn't make the vid for anyone to rate his riding. It was meant for entertainment value. If you don't like Gregg's riding style, keep it to yourself. What do you really gain by saying it?

add me to the list of people that cant watch the .mov file. luckily my comp at school CAN so i'll watch it tomorrow.

why dont you guys rate the editing and choice of music? from jim's post, i can only assume that he is indirectly asking for comments to be made about the editing and effects he created (such as trying to make it look more like film), not with the riding. anyone can rate that rider...i mean its gregg necrason for shitt's sake, its not like we havent ever seen him before...

like joe said it doesnt get us anywhere by talking about how you dont like a pro's riding instead of an amateur's video editing skills. very counterproductive IMO.

I didn't say that. But who's to say my opinion doesn't parallel yours? I didn't say it didn't, nor did I say it did. The point is...

Like scott a said, comment on the editing and effects. We all have our opinion on pros...stating them isn't what this thread is about.

My point wasn't to rate the pros riding. Jim asked for positive and negative, (he asked for feedback, which is both) I gave positive, then negative. Part of a video is not only editing and shooting, but who is in it. My only point is it could have been a lot more interesting with somebody not so "stale" as somebody else put it. Which, in my opinion adds to the value of the video.

I haven't seen a lot of old footage of Gregg riding, so when I see him riding I'm super impressed with his style. I love watching him ride, and this vid was a nice, mellow way for me to do so... Thanks Jim, sick vid...

derrick, Thank you for saying that... I was unimpressed with the riding for a few reasons.

Cool video tho. The choice of music was awesome, nice and different. Also the editing was smooth, and the vid flowed well. I wasn't really a fan of the embossed effect at the end though, I'm just not a fan of that photoshop filter effect. It was a cool way to end the vid however, nice and different once again.

Good stuff.

Thanks for the comments, I threw this together just for some entertainment on wb.com and it sounds like you guys are accepting it as just that, which makes it wortwhile. Im sure there are a lot of wb.com visitors that have never even seen a Gregg set, i guess thats the important target audience. He has been killing it for a decade and lots of the newer generation hasnt even seen him ride. I wouldnt expect someone that owns Boombox or My House or whatever to be overly impressed with this set, but the folks that havent will be amazed at how fluent he is.

As far as the set itself, I had to give him sh## just so he would go get his board out of the truck. It was right after a super long road trip and his knee was on fire, I was thrilled he even rode. I can tell you nobody in the boat complained about stale tricks, thats for sure.

I really do like to hear the positives and negatives bc it helps me to know how other percieve the editing. My friends see it and the only feedback I get is 'that was sweet!' The reason I embossed that last image is bc the caption was all hazy and dull, I had to find an effect that hid the poor quality Smile

And yeah Pat, thanks! Ill send the info to you in a PM.

The only time I've seen Greg ride is in the Project Watson Vid, where he busted his ribs. So I dig this little video. Plus I like the stuff that isn't all polished. This is a vid of Greg just riding on his own will, havin a good time. No pressure, no contest..

in that case what do you really gain by being a part of this website. what you gain by "saying it" is having your oppinion heard and talking to other people about this sport.

I thought the vid was tight, Necrasson is an OG in wakeboarding and his style is undisputedly unique and his own beast. i think we should get as much his perfectionist style in while we can because its going to be a while before another person will ride as flawless and simply as gregg does now.

i miss the goatee though! haha

Trust me, I understand expressing opinion. I'm the most opinionated person you will ever meet. But there's a difference between stating an opinion about someone's riding, and straight rippin' on him. You saw the difference, right?

Now, when I said, "What do you really gain by saying it," it was in regards to this thread. I hope you see the difference.

Derrick, and DaWord, I understand. My apologies.
