|

Well I have one major trip this year, anywhere in northern America, but I'm not sure of where to go. So, where is the "best" place? My guess so far is Whistler, and it's cheaper than most also, from what I've seen. |

You need to define "best". Best snow? Best (meaning most extreme) terrain? Best park? Best nightlife? Best prices? It also depends on the time of the year since some places are much better early/late season than others.
Whistler is a good choice but lodging there is expensive. Jackson Hole offers great expert terrain and it's a cool town, but I don't know if they have a park. If you go to Salt Lake City then you can hit Snowbird and The Canyons - and several other resorts. Lots of options and it depends on what you're looking for and your age (drinking age is 19 at Whistler). |

I go on one trip a year also and I live in the Chicago area. Obviously price will depend on where you live with air fairs. For me, Colorado is the place to be. You don't need to settle on one place. You can hit Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper all in one visit. Colorado night life is pretty good. All of these resorts have parks and awesome terrain. Get a bunch of people and rent a house, it's cheap. Usually I can get air fair, rent a car, rent a house, eat and drink like a king, lift tickets and other extra curricular activities if you know what I mean for under $500. To me that's a pretty good deal.
Hit the Rockies! I'll be there in the beginning of January, can't wait. |

For my once a year trip I am going to Lake Louise in Canada. Prices there are very cheap compared to many other big mountain areas. Its beautiful there and has excellent snowboarding. |

Go to Whistler. When you are done for the day you can stay there and party or head into Vancouver.
Vancouver is a great city! I wish I had been there for reasons other than business! _________________

Lake Louise is located in Alberta about 45 min away from the BC border. It's about 45 min away from the city of Banff, it's located in Banff national park (I think it's still in the park).
Whistler is a good choice, Louise is a good choice, there's also Silver Star and Big White around the Kelowna/Vernon area in BC. Another Alberta spot would be Sunshine which boasts huge amounts of natural snow. |

Best riding I've ever had was Heavenly in Lake Tahoe. It was the best cause they always seem to have tons of fresh powder and the off-trail tree riding is incredible.
I also love going out to Colorado. Copper is my favorite mnt out there, but you can't got wrong in that area cause there are about 5 other resorts within 1/2 hour.
I've also been to Utah, and can say I love Snowbird, but you also have about 5 other places that you can ride there too. Snow usually tends to be dryer in UT so it makes for better powder.
Never been to Whistler, but thats next on my lists to go, cause I've never heard a bad thing about the place. Just airfare from Chicago is expensive to BC. I hear the night life is the best there though. |

Have fun man, I got back about a week ago, it was sick. First time I've ever done mogals, and I loved them. But the very last run of the trip, went to the top of whistler, and there was a snow storm/blizzard. Couldnt tell the difference between snow 5ft or 50ft in front of you, because everything was so white, and with high wind. It was pretty scary but awsome. |
