I always thought that girls were more cautious than guys, hence we didn't get hurt as much. My knee proved to me today that I was wrong. I just ttok my first knee injury (as I'm sure there are many more to come). My coach said he thinks I only jammed it.... so that's good news.... but it still aches and hurts occasionally when I walk on it certain ways. Now I get to enjoy all that time off (who knows how long that will be!) Anyone else get hurt yet?

That sucks, I hope you get better soon. I have never had any bad injuries wakeboarding before (knock on wood Laughing ) just some minor ones.

Once I fell with my board slamming into my chin at 22mph. That hurt. Almost knocked me out.

I also had the best 2 crashes the week I went to The Boarding School. Almost knocked myself out again, everything was fuzzy and I felt like my eyes were glazed over for the next 2 hrs. i was so out of it that I left my board behind.
(although this happens to everyone at some point)

The worst so far is my foot came halfway out of my binding in the air and I landed backside with my foot halfway out in tight new bindings. I skidded out and pulled tendons in my ankle. I still have ankle problems, probably because I waited 3 months to do something about it. Now I just go to the chiropracter every week and she restets the bones. I wouldn't walk for a few days than like an idiot i went out and rode again, and my friends helped me rip my ankle out at the end of each session.

Last summer my knees were really bad. It was mostly from hard landings, (casing the wake!) when I was learning how to clear it correctly. Some days I coulnd't walk up the stairs at school. At random times one of my knees would go out. It sucked, but I never did anything about it and there not to bad now.

(Tigerblp, when are you coming to Tahoe, I live in Incline. We should go riding!)

Tigerblp that sucks about your knee. Hope you heal well and fast. I also *knock on wood* haven't hurt myself too bad...just the usual face plants and such. Knocked the wind out of myself one time...scary when you're trying to both get the lake water out and get air in. Take it easy, heal then get back out there and rip it up!

Man, I thought only us old folks got injured Sad I hope that your knee heals soon. I've gotten into the habit of stretching before I go to bed because I'm always so sore somewhere. I think it helps, or it's psychological. I twisted my hip pretty bad last week when one foot came out of the binding in the middle of a tantrum, I guess the back foot got caught on the trip. I thought I was going to be out for awhile since I could barely walk, but I discovered that I could ride better than I could walk Very Happy still, there is definitely something to be said for letting your body heal. If you don't, you'll go back tired and injured and hurt yourself more. Good luck to ya... Wink

Thanks everyone for your support. Luckily I think I only have to be out for a couple weeks. But healing is definatetly the key!

J*Rock Girl, I actually called you the last time i was up in incline. John gave me your number and said you might be able to take me out riding. I called you, but you never called me back. We'll have to hook up this summer.... or I'll actually be up there at the end of January, so maybe you could teach me a thing or two about snowboarding (I've only done it like 5 times)

John from wakeside? That sucks, I have a ton of #'s, since my parents are divorced, next time I will just give you my cell #. Very Happy We will def. ride though.

Make sure if your knee continues to hurt you just get it checked out right away. I hurt my ankle 4 months ago, and its starting to hurt again to walk on it, it feels like the second week after I hurt it. And basketball tryout are on monday. Hopefuly I will get it checked out today. Ankles and knees never fully heal...unless you deal with them asap.
