It depends what style your looking at doing. I know nothing about vert boards but if you wanna skate street i usually like to have lots of concave and usually wider, high kicktails. But a good starter board is a blank, there cheap and usual just as durable as any other board.
But your other hard ware is just as important as your board. For bearings get ABEC 3's, 5's if you have the money but dont waste your money on 7's as that dont preform much better then the 5's.
Trucks well tyr to get lighter ones as you will flip easier but heavier ones will last longer if your planning to grind. ANd i forgot about the wheels but im sure jester or some one could tell ya that stuff. And maybe some stuff i missed. _________________
