must be your freshman year. i thought long and hard about that everyday last year. after a few college tests i decided money and education were overrated so i decided to go to pilot school and my whole family was trying to talk me out of it then one of my good friends died in a plane crash so i decided to stick with college. i'd still rather be wakeboarding but it has gotten a lot better this year.

ive thought that scenario over and over and over. ive always wanted to pack up and leave and move to key west and work on a boat or sumthin, live in a lil hut, no fone, and just enjoy the hell out of life...it's not very practical for me. cause who knows i may get there and be screwed. i used to want to stay b.c of my best friend, my fiance, work (i have my own business) and my friends....now im not allowed to see/talk to my best friend (attorney said so, loooong story)...my fiance and i broke up....and come to think of it the majority of my friends are living in other cities....but school is all i got and i really need to make something of myself because i gots nushin rite now....stick school out another semester or two then decided if u wanna pack it up and move west....noble thought, just go over the realistics

Come on over... I have a couch waiting for you. Not near the beach but the riding is great here and we just all bought season passes to Northstar/Sierra at Tahoe. Wakeboarding and Snowboarding all winter could it get better?

umm... maybe? I love Texas and Austin, but change is always good. Especially to a warmer climate, I hate the club so that colorado thing never floated my boat.

wes reeves,
Were you going to go to ATP school or just start flying out at a local airport and quit school? I wouldn't mind moving to Orlando or out West, there isn't much here for me besides family, school, and flying...most of my friends have moved.

a wakeboard shop would go over like a fart in church here in Cali. There's already too many of them.

I was planning on going to a school in midland called durango flight school a couple of my friends have gone there and 2 have gone with a private instructor. if you go through durango you're pretty much guranteed a job with mesa airlines and they train you for everything through commercial and multi-engine and you get type rated for a beech 1900 (like an american eagle) and i think they are about to start doing type ratings for regional jets.

wes reeves,
I've just been flying whenever I can, and I'm about to start working on my instrument rating. A guy died last week at my local airport, and it was in a plane I had flown three days earlier. He took off one end of runway and crashed on the opposite end; they believe it was engine related. Flying can be sketchy, but it's safer than driving.

Man, join the club... I'm trying to figure out what the hell I'm going to do for the next few years myself. I took a year off school this year and now I really don't wanna go back. The plan was to move to Florida or British Columbia and work whatever jobs necessary to just enjoy the life. Go to school once I figure out what I want to do when I'm like 25 or so... But the parents seem intent on me going to school... we'll see if we can "compromise"... haha

Maestro, I think the longer you stay away from school the harder it is to go back. I'm being pressured to go back as well, but I said no. Laughing

Yeah it's so true ontrider. My parents are telling me to apply to all these schools in Ontario and I'd already established that I'd only go to school in Florida, BC or California... They pretend like I don't say anything keep pushing their ideas on me. Hell they even tried to use guilt to their advantage - "If you move out of the house this early you know you'll break my heart!" - coming from my mom - I guess it's hard to let go of the "baby" but it's time to...

I'm getting told to go to school and I've already graduated dammit! Laughing Going to school in Florida or California would probably be expensive as hell, I wouldn't really want to live there though. A vacation in florida would be nice, interested in going to murray's for a week Laughing I'm saving up and trying to swing that somtime this winter while I still have some freedom.

For real eh? Damn... graduated and going back for more... couldn't do that! But if I can just get out of the house I'd be away from the constant nagging.

School would be expensive, but they want to send me to some Christian Uni in BC that costs 20,000+ a year... and there's no way in HELL that I'm doing that... I figure I live in Florida for a while, then I don't have to pay out of state tuition. But the more I hear about it, the more I'm unsure about living there.

Murray's would be sick... my parents were talkin' about sending me there for my birthday... but I don't know, I'd rather get a boat! Rolling Eyes Laughing

There's an idea, maybe I'll ask for that for my birthday... I'd probably get a swift kick in the @ss if I did. I'm definitely looking into it though.

The cost of going away to school is pretty crazy, I have a few friends in the states but they're all on athletic scholarships, otherwise I seriously doubt they'd be there. I can't say I got too much out of the academic part of post-secondary, it's more about learning life skills, managing your time, your commitments, being independent and so on...

good luck on the boat Rolling Eyes

I'll be done with school in May and back living on the West Coast doing the wake photography thing. It's not a board shop, but it's a business in the industry. If people are ever out in the Nor Cal area they're welcome to hit me up - it's always a good time out there - chillin', riding, and taking some pictures every now and then.
