here is just a photo of how far Audi has come in the past 19 years.

comparing the 4000s the modern day equlivilant is the A4.....

i will also throw up all my audi photos i have(tomarow)...

ehh...im kinda partial to the bmw 330Ci because im not a fan of sedans, but i will say that the Audi A8 quattro (not to mention S8 ) absolutely OWN!!! audis are really sick.

there is a pic of the new audi "super car" in the latest Car and Driver magazine...it looks pretty sweet. i havent had time to read the article though...

The CEO of the company that I used to work for had a black S8 and it was a really nice car. Almost stealthy in that it didn't look like much except a sedan but it was quick and handled really well.

aFramer, omg... I don't even know where to start. Have you ever driven/riden in an S4, RS4?? Have you driven a bmw either? If you had I don't think you'd be calling Audi's p.o.s. And if any of them are pos it's the mercedes.

yea Aframer, can you say S4=4.2 liter V8

S4 = Bi-turbo VS tuned by Costhworth tech...

or the Dhalback golf using the Audi Bi turbo V6 wich pushes 900 hp...

Mercedes wouldnt even be able to hang with a 1.8t

road and driver put the new 600 hp AMG up against the new RS6 and the RS6 beat the stuff out of the AMG...

and an M3 couldnt come close to hanging with an S4 more or less an RS4 and the M3 isnt AWD...

you know what guys, it doesn't really matter, cuz the a8 or whatever is what, 80,00 dollars right
well you can get a vette taht will tear up any audi, then put 30,000 dollars worth of modificationg to it be running like sub 10's, and then you'll actually be driving a car worth looking at, cuz we all the audi's look like volkswagens

I can kind of see how you could find some similarities between Audis and VWs, but they are still very different.

How can you compare an Audi to a Chevy? There's no possible way to do that! They're in totally different classes - One is a luxury auto, one is a sports car. I'd choose luxury over sport anyday.

Volkswagen AG owns both companies and I believe the new Volkswagen Passat has the same B5 chassis as the old audi a4s (new a4's after 2000 have the B6 chassis)

ok your saying the a8 is a pimpin ass car? It looks like a ugly stuff box, Ide take a 760 to it any day as for the coupe area the new M6 puts the s4 to shame best part it is NA something like 650hp stock. And audi trannys dont even come on the same level as a bmw tranny.

Now we're comparing a car that's supposed to be out in like 2005 to the s4???

yeah, a ferrari and a 911 will kill an s4 too.

If you're comparing cars you have to compare cars in the same 'class'.
So if we were talking A4s then compare it to bmw 3-series / volvo s60 / g35s etc...

DRAGON88, why does it matter who makes bmw's trannys? fact is the trannys they use are praised year after year.

if you think about it, there really is no truely fair comparison-
audis come with stick or auto/manumatic
amgs ONLY use manumatic transmissions
bmws are only stick

audis only are sedans
amgs are only sedans (except c65 amg, i want one)
bmws are only coupes

audis are 4 wheel drive (niiiice!)
amgs are 2 wheel drive
bmws are 2 wheel drive

DRAGON88, when i said "audi" i was referring to the s4. my point was that there are no 2 door s4s

why did you claim that an "m3 still couldnt hang with an s4?"

he never said that bmw made their tranny, only that the bmw's tranny was better.

look at the stats. all of these 3 cars are very similar performance-wise. it all comes down to personal preference.

scott a, .2 seconds... wow. 0-60 doesn't make the car. Ask anyone who has driven an M3 and an S4 and if they're honest they'll tell you the S4 outhandles the M3 big time.

If you look at the top of the pages in the article, they've labelled first second and third place as well... What place did they give the M3 again???
