|
|
I noticed in some videos, such as The Faction, that parks spins almost all the time rotating counter-clockwise. This would explain the majority of his regular spins being blind, and most of his frontside spins being switch.
I was wondering if a switch blind 180 would be easier than a regular one...
After all, im much more comfy spinning counter-clockwise. Seems like if you had a good switch wake jump, that it would be like just the last half of a regular hs fs 3.
Any of you had any experience with this? It crossed my mind the other day and I thought it was worth a mention.... _________________ http://www.wakepics.com/view_single.php?medid=16993 one of few trips i got to make to the lake this year |

Maybe it's just because my switch riding isn't that great, but I would much rather do a blind 180 regular.

I can see what your talking about. I started learning blind hs 3s, then made blind hs 180s, then blind ts 180s, then blind ts 3s, then switch hs frontside 3, then a switch hs 5. curently working on a blind hs 5 and switch ts 3. All these tricks spin the same direction so i was feeling comfortable doing them. Not to say that your parks theory is right. But I can still do hs fs 3s and ts fs 3s and 5s. _________________ www.wake.com.au |

They are Backside spins, blind is just landing blind. Switch HS is my worst so I don't know, that makes sense to me though. Spinning that direction is more natural for you, just like whether you are regular or goofy. Plus landings come into play since its a bs 180, you are landing regular ts and thats gotta feel more natural.
Its all mental, just like riding switch, and maybe its even that way for Parks. I don't see normal physical barriers making a difference for him though. His big blind 180s are the coolest looking thing I have ever seen, biiig style points to anyone that likes to throw mean blind 180s off the double up. |

I spin one way better than the other for almost every sport I do.....
like in snowboarding I can do switch BS 180's all day long but a regular BS 180 is not as easy for me. that's why I do FS 360 even though every one will tell you in snowboarding a BS 360 is easier to spot the landing. Who cares about the landing if I can't even spin it around right. I stick with what works for me, just so I don't kill myself.
I can spin the other way like you talk about but agree the comfort level isn't the same. I'm a counter clockwise guy I guess.
I call it a brain fart!

You can handle-pass or land wrapped, its your choice. I prefer to do the handle-pass but thats just me _________________ W$R |

I've wondered this myself. I think if you pass the handle a switch bs 180 would be somewhat easier. If you land wrapped i don't think it makes much difference. I also think landing wrapped looks good with some tricks, if its a solid landing, other tricks i think look better with a pass. _________________ Raley cut everything! |

I think landing wrapped looks better even though I can't do it yet.....
This is a style preference thing for sure...
I know tryn' to land wrapped has slowed my rotation down on the rare occasion I try it and I think that looks better also.

I'm tryin to get my blind 180s too, but I dunno, It just hasn't come yet. On the other hand, on Sunday, I landed my first backroll, then like 6 more afterwards _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

I think that it would be easyier to do a Switch Blind 180 just because you land going normal. I dont think what way you spin a 180 is going to mater. Like in snowboarding I can do FS 7's but I can bearly land BS 3's. So if you are going to spin more then a 180 the direction might mater more. Sorry so long. |
