I want to build a mini ramp for my son in my basement. I have a space that's 10' x 20', about 8' ceiling so I don't want too much vertical.
Is this enough space ?
Anybody got plans they would like to share ?
What about making dividing one of the ends up into 2 halves - one that's a quarter pipe and one that's a straight incline (funbox?) ? _________________ Boston Whaler - 18' Dauntless |

rampplans.org is a good one. Also if you go to google.com and type in mini ramp plans you should get lots of good ways to help you build one and how much space you'll need. I saw some pretty small ones right in peoples houses and such. They don't necessarily need lots of vertical, just enough to push you back over to the other side. |

I would consider building it outdoors if you have the space. 8 ft ceilings don't really leave you a lot of room to play in terms of the tranny. You'd probably have to keep it under three feet and have the mellowest tranny ever, which would kind of make it boring to skate after a while. Unless you made it a really tight legnth, like no more than 6 feet. That might be a little more interesting.
If you did that you could build two quarter pipes and join them with a layer or two of masonite that way the concrete floor would be your flatspot & you'd keep it closer to the ground. If you did that you'd need a really smooth concrete floor that was quite level.
Good luck! We've built a pretty much vert playground at our house, so I can tell you it will be so much fun to build!
-just don't skimp on the masonite!- |
