yeah, they stay away from boats cause the fiberglass is hard and doesn't taste too good..but human flesh is soft and tasty so i'd watch out! j/k there are tons of gators on my lake but only once have I actually seen one out in the middle of the lake. They typically hang pretty close to shore.

| South FL has crocodiles, which are usually much more aggressive than alligators

| The alligators are in fresh water and are really chicken, it would take an 18 footer to not be scared of you and be a real big threat. Of course there have been reports of "unhealthy alligators" attacking people. The crocodiles are in saltwater and they are very aggresive. I have never heard of anybody being attacked though.

.Crocodiles live in S FL mostly in salt or brackish water, and there are very few. However, we do have tons of alligators. They are nocturnal and stay far away from boats. There have only been 12 fatal gator attacks in FL since 1948. Sharks, lightining, and falling cocunuts are much more dangerous. Statistically speaking.

Do some research, most alligators don't attack, but when they due it is generally when the sun is setting or a dark night when they can't see. The boy who was just attacked and killed this year had been teasing the gator all day. They don't like the boat and they pretty much stay away. They will attack small animals/children so if you have kids or dogs that go out, watch them closely.
One note, they are pretty territorial during mating season, but that's about it.
The lake I wakeboard in is infested with them and they don't bother me.

"Funny you were talking about that."
I was checking out a lake with the moomba today, and found these eggs close to the bank. I am going have them for breakfast tomorrow.
As I was heading across the lake , the boat stopped suddenly, and the prop sounded like it was was cavitating, while the boat was not moving. I thought the prop had fell off, so I put it in reverse to see what would happen . There was a big splash , and the moomba started moving backwards .
I resumed the way back to the dock and loaded the boat on the trailer. As I was taking out the drain plug , I noticed these teeth embedded in the swim platform. I am pretty sure it was a Bull or Momma Gator after those eggs. Be careful out there folks, those teeth are huge, and there are 80 of them.
Cheers, Barry Vaught : Þ

| Looks like those teeth and eggs came from some sort of display case... either way, stay the hell away from any eggs you see on the shores of lakes in the Sunshine State!

One thing: stay away from lake Jessup. Years ago all the problem gators that were caught in Florida were dropped off there. That place is frickin full of em. ALso, a lot of people ride on the St. John's River, but that's pretty bad too. Basically, watch your dogs, stay out of the water at night, and don't ride if you see one (or just don't fall near them) They basically stay out of the way. There was a six foot gator on Gerry Nunn's shore just last week! They think the dogs attracted it. Shoot it next time, Gerry!

I saw a 15 ft gator cruising front of Darin's dock one day right when we got back in from riding. I also saw a little 5-6 ft. gator next to the dock right before I went riding in the Alligator lake chain. They hang out in the weeds though, Just don't F*k w/ them and they won't F*k with you. The don't like us anymore than we like them.

| Seems like it might not be a good idea to ride on a chain of lakes that are NAMED ALLIGATOR!!!! I saw one right in front of the boats at The Wakeboard Camp, it was cool we just don't have that in CA. If I want something to eat me I have to go swimming at the local beach and wait for a F-in White Pointa. You took Chubs' hand!!
