I know Pat talked about this back in July, but man, now it's really blowin' up (it was on ABC news for christ's sake)! Aliance mag. put it best when they called it "Electriccrack.com". Upon my initial invite, I thought "no way! I ain't no internet loser!!" but upon further examination, I am an internet loser stuck in a cube farm surfing all day between work responsibilities, so why not? Is anyone else addicted to this shiz? With over 2 million users, I know some of you have to be.

Me and one of my friends were just talking about it yesterday. I haven't checked it out, which surprised him.

So how many people are you connected to?

BillJ, I'm connected to just over 135K people, which isn't a lot compared to some other users. I'm connected to three neighbors who I don't even "know", which is really strange.

Are you familiar with the idea of six degrees of separation? This is the electronic version, where you enter information about yourself and invite your friends to sign up, they invite their friends, etc. The idea is that you can then find people that you are connected to through a layer of friends.

It really starts to get good once you have a base of 10 to 20 "friends". I've found friends I went to college with, pro snowboarders, and (cough, cough) ex-girlfriends that I didn't know were in the network. Sh#t, Chris Heavener from Alliance mag. is on it!

I think most of the famous people on there are fake. That's the main problem with Friendster. I'm connected to a fake version of just about every celebrity on the planet.

I haven't checked it for months. Once you get a couple hundred thousand people in your network and half of them seem fake, you kind of lose interest.

I think Friendster's great - I've hooked up with tons of people from my past that I never thought I'd talk to again. There are a lot of fakes, but some of them are pretty funny...

I'm on Friendster but haven't checked it in a while. It's interesting though, two of my friends who don't know each other kept bugging me to sign up.

It sounds like the idea is that eventually friendster will have the whole world using it. Not a bad idea...

I have a bunch of friends..but I am the only technically gifted (Internet Dork) of them. I will be shunned in the community if I ask my friends to join.... Rolling Eyes

I already get stuff from them after I tell them about the cool peeps I have met on here!

I think this is just a good way to waste time if you're in front of a computer all day. Just like wb.com but w/o the wakeboards. And I'll admit, I don't mind looking at pics of women to waste time. But yeah, they do need to upgrade the servers.
