random links in posts?

has anybody else noticed this? in some posts, even in some signatures, there are just random words like car, boat, job, and crap like that that have turned into links, and when you click on them, it takes you to like a search engine results page. what the heck is goin on?

ok...so i guess there must be something wrong with my computer then? anytime there is a word like job, or car, or anything like that in a post, it is highlighted, underlined and it is "hyper-text" or whatever you call it...when i click on it, it takes me to a listing of results related to the word...

Tyler, let us know if Spybot fixes the problem, and what caused it if you can figure that out.

I had a program change my IE start page, which is normally no big deal. But this one also changed the permissions and LOCKED it. That pissed me off and I couldn't change it back until I downloaded a program to reset all of the restrictions. Now I changed it to my normal start page and locked it. And now I only run Kazaa Lite also...

my IE home page changes all the freakin time, but i just change it back...every time this happens, i get a little wordpad docuement icon on my desktop, when you open it, it says some crap like:

Hackers rule! Im a hacker! Hackers unite!
I have a tiny penis and make up for it by planting this crap on your computer!

...ok so i lied about the last part...

also. it seems as if my internet has been running really slow since this started the other day

Okay, it sounds like you have a virus. Do you have anti-virus software and does it automatically keep updated?

If not, you can run a free online scan from Trend Micro: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

It will take a while to run but it definitely sounds like a virus since it would difficult for a web page to create a document on your desktop.

BillJ, this has been happening for a long time, and ive never noticed any side effects, except my homepage is changed..

i downloaded that ad-aware program and it found a bunch more crap that the other program didnt get..however it could not delete everything...and when i went looking for the file that it couldnt remove, i found it and i couldn't delete it manually either!! i tried closing all my programs and restarting, but to no avail

the folder is called NewDotNet and inside is one file...newdotnet5_48.dll

hmm....

Tyler T, i just deleted new dot net off someone elses computer the other day.

Type ""new dot net removal" or something to that effect in google and there's a page that shows you how to get rid of it.

Check your startup items in the registry to... under localmachine>software>microsoft>windows>currentversion>run (i think)

if newdotnet or any of that crap is in there, delete the key.

I'm glad you were able to remove the programs that were causing the problems. It pisses me off when a website installs crap on my computer!
