Hey there folks, I just recently started skating (I'm in Spain for the semester, and feeling deprived of board sports in general, so I decided to pick it up and am having a killer good time with it). Anyway, I'm riding a piece of crap board right now (good stuff costs and arm and a leg over here, like 90 Euros is the standard going price for a deck, and shipping costs over here are ridiculous.). Anyway, I plan on purchasing a new board when I get home, and I was wondering what I should look for. I don't plan on doing vert or anything, just street. I'm pretty sold on the whole idea of blank decks, but as far trucks, hardware, etc. go, I don't really have a clue. I want stuff that will hold up well. Educate me por favor. Gracias. |

I started out on blank trucks that cost $20 AUD and they held up fine. I dont have much experience with trucks but lighter ones will flip easier but be weaker and heavy ones will flip harder but be way stronger ( i have probably pointed out the obvious here).
And as for bearings get 3's... 5's if you have the money if your gonna skate street you dont need a high grade 7's would probably be a waste of money, personally i use ninja 3's and they cost $60AUD and they have been great. Hope that helps sounds like you have your deck under control (cant go wrong with blanks BTW). _________________

I mainly skate at the park and my driveway, and was just wondering how well 3's are on ramps. |

With regards to trucks, it depends a lot on what you plan on doing. Myself, I like flip tricks so I picked up Tensors 'cuz they're pretty light. If you wanna grind a lot, I recommend Indy's. They're heavy but really durable.
Hardware you can just pick up at a hardware store, length is really more important than brand. 1" hardware is the most common & best all around, but if you're gonna have risers on your trucks then you need longer hardware, maybe 1 1/2" or so.
Wheels don't matter, just pick up as cheap a set as possible with the size & hardness (durometer) that you want. Don't bother with graphics, they chip off within a week or so.
I recommend China Reds for bearings, they're pretty cheap, the roll fast for a long time, & they're easy to clean. |
