i just bought a boat to learn how to wakeboard, i got it late in the season, but for a great deal from a friend of the family, baja 200 sport,i have taken it out about 10 times and not had any problems, this week i go out with some friends and hit a rock and the skeg bends , it then broke off when i got home, so i got that fixed. beautiful day so i call in sick for work to go out for a ride, i notice someting below my engine, i thought it was water and did't worry too much about it, it turned out to bee all my engine oil, some how the oil pan plug came out! i think that someone might have done this on purpose, but i do'nt know, i hope that theres not too much damage, i shut it down before it shut itself down, i will get it looked at tomorrow,i also blew up my seadoo at the start of the summer.but i learend how to get up on my wakeboard and i can now ride without falling |

Could it have something to do with calling in sick for no reason other than personal gratification?
Does you boss think he has bad luck for hiring you?
Maybe it's natural justice....... _________________ Jeff |

That sucks. Sorry to hear it.
Here's my year's bad luck:
1.) Nearly totaled my pulling vehicle (93 Bronco) on the highway (hit some moron who thought the highway was a parking lot at 10:00 at night, and I'm the idiot who didn't see him until it was too late). Approximate repair cost - $7500.
2.) Blew a tire on my brother's truck pulling my boat while my bronco was in the shop (yea, and he didn't have a tire iron or a jack, and no key for the wheel locks... lots of fun...). Oh and the blowout damaged the vehicle. This one only cost about $800 after everything was said and done.
3.) Those bearing buddies... they suck! I lost a hub on my single-axle boat trailer doing 90mph. The bearing fell apart and the tire passed us on the highway. Oh, and I was out in the middle of the desert 30 miles from civilization (if you call a population of 100 civilized). Damage to boat and trailer = $3100.
The boat is cursed. Thank goodness for insurance. They can't drop me until January.
Good news is that I'm still alive and that Snowboarding season is starting next week. I may have a bit more luck with that.
My point is, when you think your story is bad, smile, there is always someone who will have it worse than you. _________________ _______________________________________ |

I've had the worst summer in my 6 years of boat ownership.
Wheel locking on the trailer. Trim motor shorting out in the middle of lake havasu. Anchor stolen. Hit by another boat in copper cyn. Water pump went bad and had a small overheat ($1400 damage). Ripped Bimini. Problems with the boat mechanic (at the dealer no less) not doing work properly and leaving things unattached. And to top it off, 4 of my friends just bailed from Havasu this year without telling anybody. We even saw them at breakfast 10 mins before they left, they didn't say a word. My fat sack pump is the biggest pain in the ass ever. A weld broke on my tower.
I can keep going, but I'll stop here. |

That's a funny way of looking at your insurance company... I wouldn't be surprised if a bearing buddy fell apart at 90 mph. That one might not be all bad luck guy. Either way, soulds like you've been getting dumped on, sorry to hear it. Atleast it almost can't get any worse right? _________________

Whenever **it like that has happened to me (and it has, several times), it has always been my fault. Either failing to undertake essential maintenance, ignoring repeated warning signs (like noisy bearings), using the wrong grade of fuel, forgetting to remove the drain plug. You name it, I've done it.
Sure I get pi**ed but rather than blame someone else, fate or bad luck, I recognise myself for being the dumb *ss that I am and vow not to repeat the mistake again in future. _________________ Jeff |

bmack - I kinda assumed you are a guy but checked your biog and still not absolutely clear other than amongst your interests you list "women". Well, that still doesn't rule you out as a chick so if you haven't been laid for 34 days and you are a chick it's not down to bad luck!
I would offer to help you out but is a bit difficult from this side of the pond. But there again, you probably are a bloke and I don't swing that way!
And ralph when you say | Quote: | | you mostly make your own luck until you realise this you are destined to have bad luck over and over. | you've hit it in one.
In psychology there's a concept known as "locus of control". People who have an internal locus of control realise they make their own luck become masters of their own destiny and shape what happens to them.
People with an external locus of control are fatalists - they blame everyone and everything else and never take responsibility for their own actions. This trait is often seen amongst poor calibre salespeople. They blame their inability to sell on the price being too high, the literature being crap, the competition too fierce etc, etc. Never "I'm a crap salesman and I don't work hard enough"! _________________ Jeff |

| Man, i'm telling you Mastercraft Quality is unbeatable. I've only had 1 small problem in the 2 years (200 hours) that i've used my boat, and when it happened the dealership fixed it in the parking lot, in about 10 minutes right away. Gotta love Action Watersports. |

BrtnDan your experience has liitle to do with the product quality of MasterCraft and everything to do with the people involved in sorting your problem. A great product with poor support when there's a problem is no better than an average product that never needs support.
I'm sure there ara owners of other makes of boats that can tell a similar story as well as owners of all brands of boat who have nightmares to relate. It's largely about how you are dealt with by the folks concerned. _________________ Jeff |
