That boat has been sold to another happy owner. It was actually my uncle's boat, but the wake got that way because of my persistent nagging and him allowing me to buy all the ballast! It has been replace with its older sibling, the Super Air.
Its amazing how what is considered one of the best wakes in the sport (I know its the best but I have to be fair!) is very similar to an old ski boat. The only main differrence between the two is the width. When full sacked down I could ride at 75 feet behind the 2001 but for the most part, 70ft worked better. Now behind the SAN I ride at 80 on basically the same wake.
Great boat, that's for sure.

That's alotta weight Mac, nice ramp though. How far back is the sweet spot?
Do you pay a price when other boats are on the water, ie water in the boat? I have an '82 and can easily take on water when there are other boats vying for the same smoothe section of lake. Hey I'm not afraid of getting wet, but these boats sit low to begin with.
The reason for all this whining is that I am planning on adding some ballast as well but have a hard time believing that there isn't another cost involved with having a big wake, like removing the swim step.
Anybody have a pic of their boat just sitting with the ballast tanks filled?
Funkster, how much weight do you haul?

dwest,
Why would you have to remove the swim step? Realize that no matter how much weight you add, it's going to be out of the water when the boat is on plane.
To the people who posted pics: those are some sweet looking wakes!

dwest, nice rig!! Anywhere from 60-75 is really nice. I'm sure you can speed it up if you wanted to go longer. We never have that much traffic on our lake especially now. But yea you have to watch it or you can take on water usually from your own boat. Mostly fisherman around here so I don't have to worry about a SAN going by throwing a wake over the bow. There are cost like burning more gas, sacs in the floor, a little stress on the motor and drive terrain, but salmon_tacos, is right about the swim step. My swim step sits about 3 inchs under water with it sacked out.

dwest, I run a 550 sac on each side of the motor, one 550 in the rear and about 250 up front w/ 3-4 people. I know we have enough weight in the boat when the waterline is almost covering up the correct craft stickers on the back of the boat above the swim deck.
You just have to be careful we driving. If you don't power turn, the chances of taking on water from your own wake is very slim. When you run that much weight you have to roll the throttle off when a rider falls so water will not come over the back of the boat. Then turn to the right just click into gear. There is no need to speed back to your rider and chop up the water. Here is a tip, when another boats wake is coming for the bow of the boat instead of gassing it, simply click it into reverse and ride the roller intell it is pass the bow of the boat, this works like a charm.

CABIN,
Is that a wake designs tower? I love that thing. Let me know what kind of tower that is and if you don't mind what it cost. Is it collapsable? Im looking at a monster and a titan, but that thing looks sweet.
