I know these posts can be kind of annoying, but I'm really looking for some opinions.
Ok, I'm probably going to get a new skate this weekend but I'm not real sure which one. I'm more interested in flip tricks so I'm thinking either the Concave 40 from Cassette or the Gate. I'd like to try a Mutiny, but I don't know if they're available yet. Are there any other skates out there that I should look into?

Mutiny comes out mid-october, i say it's worth the wait. You can do fliptricks with a variety of boards though, Lovett pretty much proves that. From Cassette to Hyperlite.
Mutiny's are nice for fliptricks because of their new cores where there is weight in the middle of the board creating an axis to flip it on. I think the Gate personally is too big, in fact all Hyperlite's are too big, I'm a 40 and below kinda guy...
For me, if I was going to get my next deck, it be between the Mutiny Endurance Concave (smallest size available, unsure if its a 39.5 or 40.5) or a Asymetrical 40 Cassette. There is that 38 Kampus pro model, but I haven't really ridden Kampus boards. _________________ Behind the boat house, I'll show you my DOCK SECRET

Thanks guys. I hope I can wait a couple of more weeks then. I thought the Hyperlite skates might be too big but I wasn't too sure. Thanks for your comments. _________________ www.ten-80.com

Depends on the grip you are using. I had the byerly's, and by far we're the lightest shoes on the market. They would go great with a foam top, but i'm a grip tape person so I bought some skate shoes off ebay and just drilled some holes into the bottom. I never tried the Bling, but I heard pretty good things about them, but you should check out the Kampus' too.
I would say, for grip tape, just look for some skate shoes with mesh to allow pretty good drainage. You can find plenty of them cheaper than the current wakeskate shoes. (If the Byerly had an ollie guard they probably still be kicking, but Byerly rides foam top so he doesn't really need them, then again he also gets free shoes so he could tear them up anyway...) _________________ Behind the boat house, I'll show you my DOCK SECRET

Well I couldn't wait. And ended up getting a little screwed.
Last night I went to Performance and got the 41" 3D because didn't have anymore 40s. Then I wanted to get the Bling shoe. Sold Out. Settled for the Byerlys. Hopefully they won't get messed up too quickly. I also got SNAP and just finished watching some of it. I can't wait to go riding tomorrow. I'm still stoked nonetheless about what I got.
Thanks everyone who helped. _________________ www.ten-80.com

I hate to say it, but I'm totally jealous that you get to go riding tomorrow. I didn't get to wakeskate at all this year because of a major knee injury (I'm having another surgery on tuesday). It's also fall up here so the season is totally over..... so have fun riding. I would definitely recommend getting sfumato--it's totally inspiring (and the soundtrack is dope too). Linear is worthwhile as well, but you might want to wait because decline and linear will be out on a joint dvd in the near future (decline has thomas' wakeskating, which still holds up after ~4 years and the fact that he's riding cutdown wakeboards). have fun! _________________ J.L.A. Is that DVD actually out already? I checked the sidewayz site because they have been advertising that dvd in the magazines for a few months now, but they didn't have it. At any rate, it will (or is, depending on who you are:) be a good thing to sit through and watch. Like I said, thomas has tricks in decline that still hold up today. Plus he has so much control in that video it's ridiculous....I still love how he went from a carve right into a little ollie. It's the small things like that, that make wakeskating cool.
By the way, that Mr T thing is pretty damn funny....I pitty da fool that posts that much too. _________________ J.L.A. Is Snowboarding

Thankselectricsnow, I had a lot of fun today (my b-day). I hope your surgery goes well.
I'm actually really loving what I got. I went out today and proved how much I suck at wakeskating, but it was a lot more fun than I've been having on my board in the past couple of weeks.
Actually Josh R, I wanted SNAP anyway, but that was the only one (out of the three) that they had.
I think I'm going to get Sfumato sometime this week. Hopefully.
Thanks again to everyone who helped. _________________ www.ten-80.com

| kim :: i think you actually got the best possible setup : i dont know how tall you are or how much you weight but the 41 is probably going to be feel better than the 40 : the byerly shoes are very nice as well : if you take good care of the board and the shoes they should both last for a long time :: paco |
