ah, the good ol days of gymnastics. i busted my a$$ on the beam on several occasions and while i never broke my tailbone, i can relate. landing a vault straight-legged is no joke either. the worst crash i ever had was doing a back handspring on the beam and my hands missed and i landed on the beam right in the crook of my neck/shoulder. i literally could not turn my head or lift my arm for a week my muscles were so knotted up.

what also hurts is when you're doing a layout and somehow don't rotate all the way and land flat on your neck.

KA--yep, i was a gymnast all through elementary school & junior high. i was never outstanding and i kind of reached a plateau and it wasn't much fun anymore. when i got to high school, it was more important to me to participate in school sports/activities and have a social life.

Rips suck, but they probably help condition your hands for holding the handle when wakeboarding.

K.A. - sounds like i need to get you to talk to my little brother he's a kick butt gymnast also. for some reason he cant get up on a wakeboard. i dont understand it. if we could get him up on one i'm sure he'd totaly rip it. you have any ideas?? he keeps saying he cant relax becouse he's so use to having to stay stiff. I think that might have something to do with his chearleading back ground.

He dislocated his knee getting ready for nationals last month so i dont think we'll be getting him on a boat till mid summer. Rolling Eyes

Matt's 16...i was talking to him today...he says he's been throwing triples for over a year now. His full twisting double back is pretty impressive. His Dr. says he can start practicing again Monday! dang kid healed fast, so maybe we can try him at wakeboarding again this spring.
