|
|
| Is there anyone who has ridden on a torn ACL with a knee brace?? is there a risk of aggravation or something... I assume it depends on how the brace resist to the impact... is there someone with that experience who can talk to me about it... ??? I'm kind of worried about getting it worst... |

| I tore my acl two years ago. you can ask any doctor knee braces are just fashion. there is absolutly no evidence that they do anything at all. And yes it can get worse, far worse. It is cold outside right now, go see an orthopedic surgen, get it fixed you will be back on the water by mid summer. the more you put off the surgery, and the more you ride without it the more you risk doing the type of damage that even the best doctor cannot fix. |

| BS, Danny Harf won the Xgames with a torn ACL wearing his kneebrace. His Doctor told him he couldn't hurt it more, this was in like 1000 interviews. My ACL surgury is on 2/21 and my Dr. said I should avoid hitting jumps on a snowboard but I could still do it. I torn my ACL on 8/31/02 and I wakeskated 10 more times after that. It was really sloppy and weak but I did it, the only time it really bugged me was going w2w and trowing shuv-its beause my lead knee was not very stable. |

| Yes you can ride with a torn ACL with a knee brace and it won't hurt your ACL anymore, BUT, you will have more chance tearing another ligament and/or cartilage. Yes, Danny Harf did it, but come on, he's a pro. He also had a special custom made knee brace just so he could compete that once. And did you see his face everytime he landed? I'll just put it this way, It was a face only a mother could love. It looked like he was in so much pain. And did you notice that he reverted out of most of his tricks? The smart thing to do is to have it operated on as soon as possible so you can get it fixed. You won't have to worry about it then. |

| thanks guys... whatever your opinion is, I apreciate your comments... I'll talk about all this with the ortho... I'm just getting out of an arthroscopic surgery and I'll meet the ortho on feb 4th... so I'll see... anyway since last summer(when I tore my ACL) I don't suffer anymore... I only need something to keep my knee from dislocating... |

here's a crazy thought, get a new ACL to hold your knee in place I tore my ACL at the end of last summer and I'm so glad i had the surgery right away so I can board all this year without worrying about it. I wil still have a knee brace on though. Just to give my leg support and so it won't happen again. |

Get your ACL fixed now! The longer you wait the harder it will be to rehab. I tried rehab and a brace before my surgery and I did more damage to the meniscus. A brace will not keep your knee completely stable and it will pop trust me been there done that. _________________ Got Spelling? |

so I guess I'll get my ACL fixed as fast as I can... I only hope it wont interfere with College... I don't want to be wasting one more year... how much time did it takes to start to walk again after reconstruction surgery?? and how about riding??? 3 days after the arthroscopic surgery I'm back on my feet but still limping... I don't think I'll be able to ride at all this summer... |
