What kind of hype?

How wood rots/warps when it gets wet. How your $240 wood skate wont last more than a season if you ride hard on it. Try getting your skate board submerged in water and than try and ollie. Where did your pop go! Shocked

The Mutiny skates have a layer of high density foam layed into them which allows the board to keep its camber and the pop stays fresh.

Try it and see for yourself or buy a new $200 skate every few months. Rolling Eyes

mr. grouch

if you read the original post, ballsagna asked what is the best choice between a four trac and a hyperlite.

about the four track and their wooden skates, i got some that are a couple years old and they got plenty of pop. in my opinion they have aged like a fine wine.

mutiny, seems to be a great deck. however it still is a beaujolais nouveau and only time will tell.

when i said dont believe the hype i was talking hyperlite. know what i mean dog?

The Mutiny Perseverance skate would be my best advice also.....

mutiny's skate is foam with wood top and bottom. only time is gonna tell if they truely last. personally i prefer wood skates. they just feel right. foam skates feel like a wakeboard. also if you ride hard no skate is going t ohold up. they're all gonna break.

Kdub. Were those cassettes or hyperlites? I heard about lots of dealers being pissed about the hyperlites being warped right out of the box. That obviously is a defective deck and has nothing to do with water damage since they havent been on the water.

Regarding the mix of wood and water, skis were made out of wood for many years with great sucess. Andsurf boards were made out of wood as well by the hawaiian royalty and passed down for generations. I will have to agree with Mr. Lenz, theres something about a wooden deck that no composite could ever have, personality.

It's composite, a litle bit different feel than foam, I think a little heavier.

i have had my cassette 3d(paid $170 new) for 2 full seasons and i've never had a problem. i would definatly buy another cassette over hyperlite. i would also like to try out mutiny though, but if its just between hype and cassette, i would take cassette all the way.

My cassette just finished it's 3rd season, no problems at all.
The Mutiny perseverance is not foam, it's composite

i really shouldn't be trying to convince you to choose say hyperlite over mutiny because i have never ridden a mutiny board. but just for the sake of pissing of k-dub Very Happy (i know you hate hyperlite and live for mutiny), i say get a catalyst. i actually own one of those and i love it. it also won't warp because it's not wood, it's foam.
