|
|
I'm about to refurbish my teak swim platform w/ a three step process. I was wondering if I should give it a light sanding w/ a high grit 1st. Any suggestion? _________________ I have gone to great lengths to expand my threshold for pain. |

It just depends on the condition of the teak before you start.

Try water and a a scotch-brite pad. That is usually all you need ot open up the pores. The 3-step does the rest. _________________ "DDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG"

If you're trying to remove dents, always start with low grit(80) on a power sander and once the dents are gone move progressively to higher grit(220 or more) by hand to smoothen the wood.
I have no idea about what to do for 3-step teak stuff. |

When our deck's looking trashed, we sand with 100-120 then go over it with 180... then oil it. If you're not too savy with a power sander, i'd just do it the old fashioned way.... also remember to get the dust off and oil it when the teak's totally dry.... locking in moisture sucks arse. _________________ Couldn't think of a witty commment... so... um.... yea |

I just use a cheap teak cleaner and a wire brush, lots of water, dry overnite, then oil, have done thid for years and it's the easiest way for me. Have fun |
