I'm new here and trying to learn how to get even a little decent air over the wake. I'm riding behind an I/O 19 ft boat but it does have a 7 foot homemade pylon. For some reason I can't seem to get much air going from inside to outside the wake. I know our wake is small but shouldn't I still be able to fly a little? Please help! |

| Does anyone know how much fat sacks would help on an inboard outboard? If they're worth it, I'll get them. Thanks! |

HeySkierroni,
I too am new and unable to get much air, I just built a pylon for my boat but haven't been able to try it yet. Try going the other way - from outside to in - for me, heelside is easier - cut hard, progressive edge, stand tall at the wake - watch a few of the vid clips here on the site for inspiration. Hey, I'm frustrated (a little) too at the amount of air I don't get but I 've seen others behind my boat doing grabs, etc. so I know it's there, you just have to get that little bit of timing down (I think). I thin kthe trick here is just time on the water again and again and again - try to focus and don't give up.
In theory, weight should help the size of any wake as you're putting more hull in the water and therefore having to push more water out of the way, thus generating a bigger monster wake.
The wake's shape is probably more "ramp like" when approaching from outise as well...
Hope this helps

HeySkierroni,
Here's another thought for you - go the Orlando Watersports Complex site and watch some of their vids - they are getting air with NO wake, no boat for that matter. I haven't ridden a cable and I'm quite sure there are folks here with MUCH more to offer on the subject than I, but it looks as if it's all about loading up the line and then popping....
Good luck

| Start outside the wake, do a progressive edge ( http://www.wakeboarder.com/display.phtml?id=50 ) in, and stand tall at the wake. All you need to do to get lots of height is practice that over and over again. |

| Also, if it's an I/O, try trimming up when you wakeboard. It makes the wake bigger. |

Hey ski, when I started riding this year I was also trying to go inside wake to out. you do get a better pop going out to in but either way I found if U cut in hard and just as U reach to top of the wake straighten your legs and pull the rope real sharply to your waist. w/out doing that I was gettin about 12" off the water but after gettin comfortable with the rope snap I can get 3-4' of air. It feals wierd at first like your pulling yourself off balance but I'm convinced it works, hope this helps.

If you don't like the feeling of pulling the rope to your waist, then just hold the handle as close to your waist all the time when cutting in . I am still a newbie, have just learned the w2w and is consistent on it now. What I was doing wrong, was not holding the handle near my waist. Even when I did it while cutting, I would let the pull go up through the wake, and then I would loose my balance and my pop.
REMEMBER hold your handle to the waist all time. When you are comfortable with that, then try to straighten out go up the wake in a smooth motion. That is the way I learned it. |

| A way to get yourself to hold the handle right is when you come in to the wake, don't think of it as cutting in to the wake. Instead, think of it as pulling the handle as hard as you can, like you are trying to stop the boat or rip off the tower. This will help because it's the line tension that gets you pop, and not your speed coming into the wake |
