this one is almost the stupidest post base has ever put...I would say the stupiest but I know it's not.
And yes I'll bite...Why are we child abusers??
Most of the time base at least has some lame excuse to validate his point (in his iwn mind) so what is it? _________________ "I don't understand...what is this NO WAKE zone you speak of?...and what does it mean?" |

u guys need to read some books or something. kids who are forced into daycare suffer from seperation anxiety. whether u wanna believe it or not...its true. this is common knowledge.
not to mention someone else raises ur kid for most of their waking lives 5 days a week(or whatever).
u might as well beat them and lock em in a closet... |

I agree that daycare is probably not the best thing for a child, but what if you don't have any other options because both parents work? I think daycare is much better than beating up you kid anyway. |

I'm not a big fan either, my ex-girlfriend had some bad stuff happen to her when she was in daycare, wheras I always had a babysitter, who was as cool as cool.
I still wouldn't label it 'child abuse' though, occasionally there really is no alternative. _________________ Terminate high thinking |

| This "common knowledge" is brought to you by a man who "knows" we never landed on the moon. But I don't think that's half as telling as the fact that the "common knowledge" is brought to you by a man who thinks making fun of how someone's kid looks is a good cutdown/comeback. |

| Base, i apologize for my unkind statements above. I think that this thread actually could be a HUGE help to all those with children and want them to turn out as wonderful productive members of society/mankind/life. Please tell us Base, when you were a child were you put in childcare? |

Base, just because you don't believe in it, doesn't mean it's bad.
Not all kids suffer from separation anxiety. In fact, most kids love goin' to school and seeing their friends and at the end of the day, look forward to seeing their family. They repeat the cycle with no hesitation. Then when the weekend comes, it's either w/ friends, or family, or both! It's not the time away from eachother you should put all of your focus on. Focus mostly on your time together.
Maybe you should try talking to your kid. Give kids more credit. They understand more than you think. They don't have to think that the daycare is raising your child. Neither do you. If you looked at things more positively, you wouldn't look so negative on this board. _________________ my demo reel

Day care is not needed when they're in school?
I'm sorry, but now I do not believe you have kids.
Kindergarten is a half day. 1/2 day day care, 1/2 day school.
School is basically 8:30 until 3:30 - nice to be able to work only five hours if you can.
Yep, too much free basing I guess. |

Actually, if you really cared about your kids, you'd learn how to type. Also, youd' quit trynig to type like a little internet 'gangsta' and would actually be a nice person.
Then again, you're welcome to teach your kids what an ass is. |

Yes, actually, they are. From the son of a factory worker to where we are now, they feel we've done pretty well.
With the attitude you show, I'd be very surprised if your kids turned out as normal likable folks. It's quite obvious you didn't. |

| Child abuse, I am still rolling here!!!!!!!!!! My son went to day care after he turned 2. He sees it as school. And we make every effort to play when we get home so he does not feel abandoned. The best part, he is far more advanced in his speech and intellignece and people skill by being around older kids and learning as they do. He is now in preschool and blows the other kids away. There are also studies that show that kids that attend preschool (basically structured daycare) excel in kindergarten and are better behaved versus kids who have always been home. |

No Preston, he is making assumptions and portraying others as horrible people. So if he has the right to make his assumptions, so does everyone else. Just so happens that it appears far more disagree with his comments than agree, so there are many negative replies here.
You telling everyone to chill out is no different than everyone telling Base he's full of it. So you are now one of us |

Preston.
If someone called me that to my face, I'd be more than likely to pop him one.
Telling someone that they are a child abuser is not an opinion. It' an insult. There's quite a difference. |

If you care about your kids you need to have a stable job to put food on the table and a roof over their heads. Even if that means both parents work. Does it make you a good parent if only you work and your wife stays home but your kids can't live a comfortable lifestyle (for instance. Eating or having clothes to wear to school) .
And daycare can be very good for a child because they need the social development. You don't want your kid being too attached and never want to leave their mom. _________________ www.texasskiranch.com

base- how do you think of this sh*t? when i first saw this thread i thought no one was gonna give it any serious thought, because it's stupid.
i would bet that every thread base has started gets over 100 replies. After arguing with him on about 5 different threads i've decided that he is not serious and he just likes to start sh*t. so why bother arguing with him? |

It is obvious that base’s posts are generally antagonistic. I have entered into a war of words with him before & learned a great deal from the discussion as a whole. I usually do not agree with base’s statements but those who share my same views help strengthen my beliefs on the topic, (whatever it may be).
That being said, here’s my take on this particular topic.
Base approaches sharing his views like Palestinian terrorists go about their “missionary” work. KaBoom! On this one occasion & have to agree with part of base’s point. While I will not assert that childcare = child abuse I do believe that a child is best raised by his/her parents. My feelings about this are strong enough that I work two jobs plus some side work on top of that in order for my wife to stay home and be a full time mother to our children.
My oldest son is 5. He is attending ½ day kindergarden this year and although he is the youngest in his class he is socially a peer to his classmates and academically superior to many of his classmates. I cannot subscribe to RKG’s statement any more that he could believe that my child is doing way better because he has enjoyed the company of one of his parents all day everyday.
| Quote: | | RKG The best part, he is far more advanced in his speech and intellignece and people skill by being around older kids and learning as they do. Preschool is NOT “structured daycare”.
Of course a child who has been in daycare is going to be used to the “system” and know how to behave at first. I must assert that it’s the 1 on 1 time with a parent who reinforces the things that are taught at school & even daycare which helps a child excel. Not the mere attendance of a daycare.
I am not calling anyone a bad parent and I freely admit that I don’t know any of your personal situations but my next point is sure to inflame some people. If this hits too close to home & gets you angry maybe you should examine your situation and consider your options.
In a two parent household it is the selfishness & greed of the parents which lands their children in daycare. If you believe strongly enough that a parent should raise a child, not a daycare worker you can forego the material wants which require the 2nd parent to work and let them stay at home. Society has convinced us all that we need to have the big house, big boat, two (or more) new cars, etc, etc, etc. These are not needs, they’re wants. Because we want these things, were willing to place our children in the care of others while we go work to pay for these luxuries.
Base is wrong. Your not abusing your child by using daycare.
Base is right. The place for a child to be raised is in the home with one of his/her parents.
My humble opinion.
