wetsuit wet, drysuiit dry

As I understand it, a wetsuit holds water in the material which is warmed by your body to keep you warm. A drysuit seals the water out and keeps you dry. A wetsuit is good when the water is uncomfortable but a drysuit should be used if the water is really cold.

When I used to sailboard I found that even in really cold water, if the sun was out, I would bake standing on the board in a drysuit and have to jump in the water to cool off.

Yeah, I have a full Oneil Heat, 4/3 with taped seams, and I can take it in almost any temp water, the only draw back is if you take it off in the boat you are wet, and then get really cold, a big benefit of a dry suit is that if you take it off you are dry and warm, hell you can even wear long underwear under it, so you jump out and your already dressed. One draw back to the dry suit is that its a little less mobile than a wet suit.

Get a baggy style drysuit. They are not restrictive at all.

Unless you have a big neck, in that case get a wetsuit.

the wetsuit i use does pretty good...though i've never used a dry suit and wouldnt mind havin one. i'd say a drysuit is the better choice just becuz it keeps u absolutely dry...ur gonna get wet in a wetsuit but it does keep u pretty warm. either way is better than hopin in freezin cold water temps
