When you are months(or more) into a trick and getting no where, do you move on and come back to it?
Seems like practicing the same thing over and over will just ingrain the fault you can't find.
thanks |

| If it is taking that long it sounds like you are not ready for the trick. work on easier tricks and then come back to it. what trick are you working on? |

Yes, it will. One of my teachers in school talked a lot about "batting average" (we're talking music here, but bear with me for a sec...) If you play a passage wrong 4 times, then get it right on the 5th time through, what do you think your odds are of getting it right again on the 6th? Not very great, I assure you. You have to slow it down, break it down, and fix what's wrong piece by piece, then build it back up. So, here's my suggestions:
1) Find a new way to practice it. Maybe use a tramp? He!!, put your board on, tie a rope to the end of the dock, and jump off & try the trick (provided it's not TOO huge of a trick, of course - wouldn't work with a backroll or something).
2) Behind the boat, try each piece independently - say you're working on a Slob 180 - do w2w jumps, then grabs, then 180s, then throw the Slob.
3) When you do land the trick, land it again. And again. Keep doing it until you nail it 3 times in a row.
Good luck, man. Let us know how it goes! _________________ "Practice, man, jus' practice" - Wynton Marsalis
