Speakers and amp for my boat

I want to put speakers in my jet boat so I can hear while I'm boarding. The guy at the boat dealership said I could put them facing out of the engine compartment where the ski deck is. Anyone have any better ideas of where i can put the speakers that I dont have to make holes and I that wont get in the way? What kind of speakers and amp should I get, I know about car stereo's, is it the same with boats or do i need special speakers so they dont get ruined from the water? Also, I want it to sound good with good base, let me know what you think.
