I have a jet pilot stance, but it's not the molded front. It's super comfy and floats just like the crappy approved ones. It cost quite a bit, but it's cooler looking than the nylon ones that you buy at the local hardware store. I bought my brother a Body Glove vest for his b-day, and it's neoprene, costs less, it comfy and coast guard approved. I've heard that the foam has to be a certain thickness to be approved, or it has to be sectioned off. The new stance vests are approved I think.
