backroll,
cut out 10-15 feet, come in with a progressive edge, hit the wake, throw your head and body to the side and keep both hands on, stand tall, and edge away. _________________ Liquid Force

"throw your head and body to the side"
Uh, I wouldn't exactly call that good advice. _________________ my demo reel

definately a backroll. just come in with a medium-easy cut and when you get to the wake just push backwards with your feet away from the boat. commit to doing the trick-it is really easy. hold on with both hands and keep them as close to your hips as possible to keep you spinning. _________________ I am a 18 year old, who dreams about wakeboarding all day....this seems like a cool website to get some information off of. |

is it more of a backflip or frontflip. The discriptions above didn't really make sense. _________________ Go big, or don't go at all |

| I would definitly go with a backroll t I have found the rotation is much more natural than a tantrum. When I do them I start from about 15-20 feet out and get a pretty solid edge all the way to the wake. Right as you take off stand tall and throw your head down towards the wake over your right shoulder (if your regular if your goofy its your left). As this happens you will feel your self upside down and I usually cant see crap until I am right side up again you should feel yourself rotate and you will see your board as you come out of it. Ifyou get this far and you are not facing the boat you should be able to stomp it and ride away. In learning them I only came across one bad fall and I landed my fifth one. Hope this helps this is the best I can explain it. It should look like a reverse cartwheel. The rotation is nose over tail not rail over rail ya dig. |

A BACKROLL IS NOT A HEELSIDE FRONTFLIP!!! THERE IS NO FRONTFLIP ROTATION AT ALL IN A BACKROLL. a backroll is like a backwards cartwheel. _________________ Chevrolet for Life |

i agree with chevy.. if you do a backroll right, then it should look like a backwards cartwheel. tip goes over tip, not rail over rail. hence the name backroll, not frontroll- thanks for bringing that up chevy. _________________ I am a 18 year old, who dreams about wakeboarding all day....this seems like a cool website to get some information off of. |

| but is it possible to think of it as a heelside frontflip cuz on my first try which was 2 days ago i was like ok heelside frontflip and i went in and rotated it 3/4 of the way. i thought that was the easiest possible way to do my first invert. i dont really get what the diff in a tantrum and a backroll is anyway none of yall make sense to me with all of this reverse cartweel crap. |

if you want to do the real trick, then dont think of it as a hs frontroll-that is called a mexican roll..they are horrible looking. alright, a tantrum is just a straight backflip-what you consider a backflip on a trampoline.. now a backroll is just a cartwheel, no backflip or frontflip or anything, just straight backwards, so that the front tip of your board goes over your back tip...maybe that will help you a little bit on your trick understanding _________________ I am a 18 year old, who dreams about wakeboarding all day....this seems like a cool website to get some information off of. |

Think of it this way tantrum... When you do a backroll you come off the wake and look over your right shoulder this starts rotating your body kinda sideways backwards to your right. You keep rotating and the board comes up and over and back underneath you and you are on a toeside edge now and you started on your heelside. You just kinda gotta picture it in your mind or watch it on a video. A tantrum is where you cut at the wake but right before you hit the wake you turn kinda back striaght so you hit the wake with your board parrallel to it. This kicks your board up and starts the rotation. You then Push your chest up and pull your head back like doing a backflip. So the backroll is like a backwards cartwheel because you come off the wake going forward and kinda do a backflip but in a cartwheel motion. And on a tantrum you come up to the wake and flatten out so you are facing away from the wake and the wake kicks your board up in front of you and over like doing a backflip off a diving board... hope this helps everyone you cant understand a backroll and a tantrum. _________________ www.krookedminds.com
