Alright, here it is.....
I met this girl the other day. She is absolutely gorgeous, intelligent, she wakeboards, and has a job(that's been a hard one to find lately).
To make a long story short, I was talking to her today. In the midst of a great conversation, I started putting 2 and 2 together and figured out she just turned 18!!!!!!!!!! To my total suprise.
My problem is I have always dated girl that are somewhat close to my age, and girls that are 18-21 years old just seem to have this bad effect on me. And I have never asked anyone out that is 11 yrs younger than me, my younest sister is 21 and I think she's young.....she always has been I guess!
I'll stop rambling now. HELP ME PLEASE! I'm going crazy over here! |

Hey, she's legal!
Seriously, think of yourself when you were 18. There are some things that an 18 year old wants and needs, that you simply just won't agree with. They say "age is just a number." It's more than that. Maturity level is completely different when you're 18.
If it works for the both of you, sweet. But think of your needs and wants and her needs and wants. If they meet, great. If not, you've got yourself a great friend!
And having to deal with her folks...good luck with that! |

I'm 29, and if I was single, I wouldn't hesitate to date an 18 year old. If she has the same maturity level as yourself, great. If not, well, life is short, have fun and take your pleasure where you can. Maturity level matters only in defining the type of relationship you are going to have. And keep on guard so you don't get too hurt if/when it ends. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide |

Does she know you're 11yrs older? Take it from her perspective and then go from there. Is it possible that she may have the issue with age. Also watch out that she doesn't use you for ill gotten gains.
Just my female input. |

I'm 24 and I wouldn't date a 18 year old, I wouldn't go under 21. Think about it, she just graduated high school. Maybe if she's not going to college or anything, but people change pretty drastically in the 18-22, usually going from school to work.
Remember the quote from Dazed and Confused, "That's what I like about these high school girls, I get older, they stay the same age..."

Why is every one so quick to judge. Just because he is 11 years older does not meaning anything except that he is 11 years older. Maybe she has dated older guys in the past. Maybe her parnets aren't going to judge you based on your age, and they shouldn't. But then again, I can say this because I don't have a daughter. But When I do, I'm not going to judge him based on his age. I will want to get to know him before I decied.
Kyle Wells- If your at the same maturity level, have good communication skill (most important in my relationships), are fun to be around, intelligent and she wakeboards, then I would say go for it. But then again, if you've only know her for a few days, then i would see how it goes over the next couple weeks.
But then again what do I know, because I am single. _________________

So what if she isn't mature, or is going to want different things? That doesn't mean that there can't be a relationship, just on a different level. It probably couldn't get serious if she wasn't mature and wanted different things, but that doesn't mean that they can't have fun for a while.
Why does every relationship have to be long term and serious? What's wrong with two people who like each other spending time together and enjoying each other for the time being? As long as you have an accurate picture of what the relationship is, and you don't fool yourself, then what's the big deal? We are assuming that Kyle is looking for a long-term serious thing. What if he just wants to have fun? What if she just wants to have fun and Kyle is exciting because they share an interest and he is older, so that makes her feel good?
I think as long as you can keep sight of things the way they are, and you don't try to make a relationship into something it can't be, then go for it! _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide |

Kyle, I dated a 19 year old for a while while i was 28. It was like a like a roller coaster-- great fun for awhile but in order to keep my sanity i had to get off the ride. the maturity thing reared its ugly head about 7 months in. be carefull. |

True dat-the older you get the less the age thing really matters....
18 is young--- real young for a guy almost 30.. but I will say like mentioned above. If she acts mature for her age and you act young for your age I don't see why you shouldn't give it a go... Just remember you wont be able to go out to dinner and have a few drinks with out making her feel a bit uncomfortable... You might get some stuff from your pal's but that's just cuz they are jealous.
worst thing that could happen is you tow around a hard body for the summer and part as friends.
I like older women- they already know men are pigs and keep coming back for more...lol...

| My only thing would be that girls mature a lot that first year after High School. Other than that if she's cool go for it. Young girls usually don't have the cynical outlook on life that I keep running into with a lot of girls. |

All I can say is that I am 34 and my husband is 45........We both are very immature so people can not believe us when we tell them our ages, plus he looks alot younger then 45. The point is it doesn;t matter the age difference as long as you have the same interests and you like each each other. My parents were 17 years apart and it had no bearing on their relationship at all. Most people that are older definately know what they want and are for sure set in their ways. So if the person is older definatly except them the way they are, cuz there is no changing them. All I know is my husband is the best thing that ever happened to me wether he is 45 or younger. When I was 19, between my freshman and sophmore years, I had a summer girlfriend who was 16. (That's illegal, I think!) It was one of the best summers of my life.
She was sweet, fun, and beautiful. Because she was only 16, and I had wild oats to sow back at school, we both knew it wouldn't last, and of course, it didn't. We stayed good friends for a long time, and she actually started dating a friend of mine, who was her age, after we broke up.
So if your relationship looks like it doesn't have the sand to last, keep an open mind and enjoy it for what it is. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide |

Kyle,
I think it all depends on what you are looking for. If you want to mess around and go out for awhile then go for it. But personally, I think somone who is 18 has completely different wants, needs and aspirations than someone who has figured that stuff out already such as yourself (maybe). That first year of college is huge! I see it in so many people, but if your willing to understand that despite the age difference and maturity level then go for it. But remember she can't go to bars or many clubs with you either...just a thought.

| IMO ~ now this is me, who's almost 16 and not 1/2 as mature as you, but honestly i do feel that 11 years is a big difference. but if u don't feel like it bothers u and if it didn't even phase you when you first met her, then go for it. what's the worst that could happen?? |

I would take it one day a time. Otherwise, someday you will kick yourself in the arse and say "aaahh, I could have dated an 18 year old." I do not think you have anything to lose. What did premier say? _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |

Kyle: you have but one question to ask:
Could her old man kick your ass?
j/k man, I don't really know. It seems like a big difference but if she's up for it.... i do have one piece of advise though, if you guys do hook up and down the road she breaks it off..... get the hell away. If you chase her and she gets pissed at you, it would be as easy as hell for her to turn you into the big bad OLDER guy who seduced her..... Good luck man. _________________ Terminate high thinking |

18 is reall young. I don't know about anything serious. She probably isn't in the same place as you maturity and mentaly. I have dated younger guys before and it was just a disaster. Just don't go getting chummy on me for some girl-hehhehehehe
You going out in Thursday night with the show boys? I will be there as soon as I get off work. |

Well, I was just telling you my experience since I have yet to date any 18 year old girls myself. If you need a third for Monday.
Get the guys all round up for tomorrow night. Hit the bars down the street from the show. |
