Chicago is a great hockey town. To think all these fans endured decades of crap until old man wirtz died and passed the torch to Rocky.

Bringing in Brookbank along with Carcillo (aka car bomb) fills the only void. GRIT and toughness.

Kinda glad it's a shortened season.......

Excited for tonight's game..... It would be extra sweet, because the guy I help coach the Little One with, is from Chicago and a big 'Hawks fan. He has been reveling in their greatness at practices and games(as he should be)....

Nothing I would enjoy more, than going to practice tomorrow night and nonchalantly asking him how the streak was going.... He is well aware of where my allegiances lie....so on the flip side, I may take a little ribbing myself....

Worried about Friday. Mile highly altitude, Shaw and the elbow to his face, Sharp looks like he broke his clavicle, Hossa?

Did anyone hear what Gretzky said about the Hawks?

Not sure how I feel about the elbow, I do feel good about Carcillo.

The streak is exciting and really fun but I am just grateful that Rocky has embraced the city, former players, Pat Foley and the fans. It's such a positive change from the former regime. That positive energy is what is driving this streak and making it special.

Car bomb on the ice for the final two minutes of a game like that? The synergy and trust is incredible.

Looks like Sharp is out. Hossa is a GTD. Shaw?

Go Avs!!!

Hell of a run for the 'Hawks. Now let's see if the Avs can get into the 8....

MD has been awesome this year, wonder if he is just naturally growing or jumping with fear over fear of ROR and Landeskog... Regardless, love his play this year!

Tlusty-E Staal-Semin

Best line in the NHL. There, I said it.

Look at the numbers:
Tlusty: 13 G, 8 A, +16
E Staal: 12 G, 18 A, +19
Semin: 7 G, 19 A, +18

E Staal's 30 pts is 5th in the NHL, and his +19 is 1st in the NHL. Semin's +18 is 2nd. Unreal productivity.

Avs have been flying around the ice the last 10 days. Wins/losses, whatever...playing great hockey. Again tonight(1st against the Sharks)... Not a great record, but the kids are skating...if they can keep playing well, they're dangerous.

Beating the Hawks at home is a bright spot on an otherwise dark season so far. Hossa needs an A$s kicking for running the goalie every time he is on the ice.

If Oilers can beat the Avs tomorrow, maybe they can get a bit of momentum and score a few goals in the second half of the season.

Hopefully getting Factor back lights a little fire under them and gets them going. When you look at their talent, they have 3 pretty damned decent Centers and 2 talented scoring lines. Some solid defensive play in front of The Russian could make for a nice little streak of their own.

What? Laughing Rolling Eyes

Hossa in undeniably one of the nicest guys in the league. 1000 games and he still goes to the net like a player should. He is not a cheap player.

Canes skunked the Caps (with 3rd string goalie) tonight in DC. Hope they can do it again when I go to Canes/Caps in Raleigh on thursday.

Helluva comeback by the Pens tonight over the Bruins. I turned it on when it was 0-2 in the third period just to see them rattle off 3 goals and win it in regulation. Shocked

I didn't say he was cheap, but when a player crashes the net like he does he shouldn't come out smelling like roses. Maybe more of a critisism of the Oilers than Hossa...he did get tangeled up with the goalie enough for me to make a note of it in that game oh well, doobie was ok.

Also, Avs and chicago both go down to the Oil...nice.

I enjoy seeing all the Indian head sweaters on the road. At first I thought they were at home tonight.

The oil have been a pain the last few seasons. Hockey players have good memories.

Crawford high glove side is weak sauce.

Had great seats tonight for Canes/Caps. About 10 rows up in front of the faceoff circle, bench side on the side the Canes shoot twice. Canes came out to an awesome start. Semin was on fire. It was my first time sitting in the lower level and it was cool to see plays that close. You really notice the size of players (big and small) that close up. Semin really looked elite in the first period.

Unfortunately the Canes fell asleep in the 2nd and the game winning goal crossed the line by about 1 inch.

My Canes/Caps curse continues...been to 3 Canes/Caps games the last 3 years and they have lost every one. Oh well, Canes still won 6 of their last 8 and have 2 easy games coming up.

Well no secret why I disappeared...that last post I had above EJ's marked the beginning of the end. I guess I was the curse going to that Canes/Caps game. After the 1st period of that game the team somehow just imploded. Lost 14 of 15 at one point. Straight freefall. Totally inexplicable implosion...nobody can figure out what happened to the Canes. I've never seen a worse collapse by a sports team before. 1st in the SE, 3rd in the East and beating up on the top teams in the league to losing 14 of 15. Unreal.

I hate being a pessimist but the Canes REALLY REALLY messed up. This was their year to make the playoffs after a drought since 09. The SE was terrible and we finally got an elite winger for E Staal, a great 2nd line center, and a top quality backup goalie, and an up and coming coach...and somehow they didn't do it. Now we enter a division with Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, the Rangers, and Washington...how will they EVER make the playoffs in that new format? I just don't see it. And now we have massive contracts to pay and rising ticket prices...for what I fear will be a lengthy playoff absence. The future is very very dark.

The only bright side is the 5th pick in a pretty good draft. The mock draft I saw had us drafting a Malkin-like RW, but the Canes have such a gaping need for a shutdown defenseman that I hope one of the 3 nasty huge D men around picks 4-12 makes it into a Canes sweater and develops FAST. Really was crossing my fingers for the Seth Jones pick.

Jones being special, history with the area and most importantly....the Avs HUGE NEED for players on the blue line....seem to make this a no brainer....

Excited for the games tonight.... Playoff hockey, only thing better....if the Avs were still playing.

Avs get the first overall pick and gas their coach. Is a commitment of resources from ownership to follow? If not, don't see a whole lot to be excited about for 2013-14.

I'll bite:
West
Hawks def. Ducks
Kings def. Sharks

East
Pens def. Senators
Caps def. Bruins

Stanley Cup
Pens def. Kings

watched a bit of the game last night. Wow. I never really could stand Quebec. After going to Cuba the past number of years and spending time with Quebecer's my dislike for them has grown exponentially. Watching the third period was was really disgracful. They're really just a FUNKED up people that need to be cut lose by the rest of the world... Harsh? not really, unless you've actually spent some time with them they're useless. Only word i can use to describe them i've decided. Go SENS.

Really nice to see Vancouver down 3-0. Whoever thought this team would do anything in the playoffs has to give their head a shake. They made the playoffs cause they got to play Edmonton (who sucks), Calgary (who sucked) and Colorado (sucks the most) what 8 games each? almost half of their schedule.

Minny needs to lose. They're the most god aweful boring club to watch. Chicago needs to get rid of them so we can watch some excting hockey next round.

St Louis LA has been pretty good to watch. Super low scoring but goaltending has been awesome. My favourite series so far. go St Louis

The other series I haven't really got to watch.

Did I mention how useless Quebec is?

so far 5-1 with two TBD.

GO LEAFS GO!

Loved the game last night. Was a bit disappointed when a small minority of fans at the game started booing the US anthem (not cool at all) but happy when the rest of the crowd quickly drowned them out with the cheering.

GO LEAFS GO!

What an EPIC COLLAPSE by the Leafs. Almost unbelievable....

The Little One was on the ice, so I'm getting updates on my phone.... They finish up scrimmage & we're heading home, Leafs up 2 with little time to go.... Get home and they're getting ready for OT.....
