Hey Swass, just cause I'm in a debate, doesn't mean I'm worked up. I can have a debate without getting worked up. Thanks for your high regards of me.
wake152, jt09's right. Francis is a point, but likes to shoot a lot.
jt09, I think if the Spurs go far, or if they win it all, I doubt they would deal for Kidd. It just doesn't make sense...not to me anyway.
NorCal, yeah, totally! BUT...Payton could take a low salary, like a lot of players do just to win a ring. _________________ my demo reel

| I actually heard that Payton wants to come play for the Blazers. Its just a rumor, but I think that would be awesome! I don't understand why the Spurs want Kidd, they have Parker and he is a pretty good point for how young he is. Plus he is just going to get better as he matures. |

I don't think Payton would though. He's an outright all-star and it wouldn't say much for him to take that paycut. Payton isn't in the last year of his career, so he doesn't need to make the Richmond comprimise. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

| Well, a possible reason the Spurs want Kidd is that he is the best point guard in the NBA. |

There's no "we" here - you said Francis is a 2 guard, I said he is a point. Stop drinking your product. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players?league=w&position=pg
Jello John - Agree on Kidd being the best PG in the game - hands down, in fact. But with salary cap and team composition, it doesn't make sense. Upgrading from Parker to Kidd is like going from a Malibu to a Mastercraft....both do a good job, but one is a bit nicer and costs WAY more. SA doesn't NEED a point guard, what they NEED is a big man to help Duncan once the Ensign stops stealing money and a 3 who can slash and hit the outside shot.
Kidd is a bit bigger and can score a bit more consistently, but he will get the NBA vet max $$$ and will be 30 next year (still has 3-5 great years left, but what trade value after?). Kidd can't get much better - he should have been MVP last year.
Parker is only 20, does exactly what San Antonio needs him to and is VERY cheap compared to Kidd. Parker is going to be MUCH better - he's young and this is only his SECOND year playing with Americans. Probably won't be a 20 ppg scorer, but I can easily see him at 16, 8 and 2 by next year.
Kidd - 19.2 PPG, 8.6 APG, 2.2 SPG
Parker - 15.6 PPG, 5.4 APG, 0.9 SPG |

Jt09- how can you say Duncan needs a big man? He is a big man. They have the tools but I don't think they have the depth. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

| San Antonio has decent depth in my opinion. Also depth is over-rated as the Lakers have one of the worst benches in the league and were able to win some championships. |

Duncan is a big man, but who else do they have? Robinson is gone after this year...not that he is any help at all to begin with. Rose is an overacheiver who has one good game out of three. Duncan is a great 4, I'd like to see a solid 5 like Olawokandi come in to help that front line. I'd even be cool with Brand coming in at the 4 and playing Duncan at the 5. I think you need 3 solid big men down low to be good. A stud, a good player and a capable sub.
SA does have decent depth but not up front. Duncan plays 39 minutes a game (too much). Robinson has been out for over a month and isn't coming back -he's only playing 27 min a game with 9 pts and 8 boards. Rose only gives them 23 min, 9.6 pts and 6.3 boards a game. A good big man would help..not a big $$$ guy, but a solid 30 min player.
The Lakers don't count when talking about conventional depth. When Shaq and Kobe are 2 of your starting 5, me, Chrissylicious and Aubs could win 60 games and get through the first round in the West. Hell, we could probably make the East Finals.
I think Ginobili and Jackson are doing OK, but Jackson has been a mullet for a couple of years before having a decent year and there have been whispers about Ginobili for ROY, but I think he is a couple of years away from being a real NBA 2. They need some wing help at the 3...amybe a combo guy like Sprewell (NOT Sprewell, but that style player who can play and guard both the 2 and 3). |
