It's true. You aren't going to find a 22-23 foot boat that surfs awesome with 400lbs. None. He needs to upgrade his rear bags to the 750's or 1100's. _________________ 2010 Watson Hybrid

we fought the wake on that thing all day Saturday, still no extra bags but we had 12 people in there, we started with empty ballast and of course it was just fair but it was clean just not very big, when i got ready to ride we loaded up the bags, surf tab all the way down and at 22 it was white washing but not a smooth crisp wake like it should be, so we fiddled with the trim tab and trimming it up only made it worse, dumped the rear bags and it helped a lot but still not quite right, played with the trim tab a little but no better, so we dumped the front bag too, he thought it was perfect then, i can only guess that it needs at least an extra 500lbs up front in addition to the stock ballast, so far color me less than impressed with the setup, any other recommendations? the only thing i can think is it just has to be slammed with weight like a big bow sack and another 400ish lb bag in the back too with maybe one more in the walkthrough _________________ Lithic, LLC, my biz

we bumped the speed up from 21.5 to 22 and then 22.5 and it seemed to get a little better, 22.5 is a little too swift for me _________________ Lithic, LLC, my biz

I did but couldn't find anything, i still think because the boat is much bigger he is going to need 2000+ to get it right, distribution will be key _________________ Lithic, LLC, my biz

I know there are some guys on the Moomba forum raving about the surf wake... I bet with some tuning it will appear. _________________ '08 Mobius LS |

If the wake is white washing, that is usually due to having too much weight in the rear. I would start by filling the front up and having the wakeplate all the way down. The wake should be more mellow this way and then start adding weight in the rear. On my XLV it was important not to lift the plate up too much, it is a very useful tool but needed to be almost all the way down to be most effective and make the best wake.
Can you snap some pics when you are out next? Also do you know what size bags he has? It's a new boat but after a few rides I'm sure you guys will get it dialed. _________________ 2010 Watson Hybrid

it seemed to be best with only the bow bag full and wake plate all the down, he was riding and i started dumping the rear bags watching for the right point and when it just quit white washing i looked and the rear bags were at 5% full, i'm taking an extra sac for the bow this weekend and filling up everything then gradually dumping the rear until it's dialed, he'll just have to get over the sac in the floor _________________ Lithic, LLC, my biz

22 mph isn't overy quick.
If your trying to wakeboard at 19-21 mph dump the ballast and ride like that. Don't try and weight the crap out of the boat and ride at 19. NO boat is going to have a clean wake at those speeds fully weighted.
I know for our boat 23 is really the magic number. Anything slower and I have to dump weight to get a clean wake.
Also shorten the rope if your riding slower. That will help as well _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |

The mojo only has 400lbs stock in the front and in each rear. If you had all those people in the rear of the boat, you definitley need more weight up front. I bet with the extra bow sack it will be much better balanced and should be a cleaner wake. Grab some pics. _________________ 2010 Watson Hybrid

He prefers about 21. I usually ride about 21.5 behind my weighted SANTE but don't have any issues with 23 but I don't think he feels comfortable. May just have to ride with the rears empty if that is what he likes since it is his boat. _________________ Lithic, LLC, my biz

| slidin_out, You guys been out again lately? What have you done with the wake? I rode a mojo today at a demo with an empty boat and no ballast. The wake was clean with a nice ramp. I am used to riding a I/O so the wake seemed pretty big to me. It is an awesome boat, I was really impressed. Let us know when you get that wake dialed. |
