buckthis, dunno about the lakes, but a lot of our rivers are spring or aquifer fed, so they are. almost all the places i've been toobing/swimming/wakeboarding locally for the last 20 years are all cold water - lake austin (cold because it's the water form the bottom of lake travis), san marcos river (spring fed), guadalupe and comal rivers (partially aquifer fed).

As sad as I am to see the conditions down there, I am equally disappointed in what this thread content is. I expected so much more from you!

75 degree water? lucky you guys. The absolute warmest the water gets here is 65. That's only the very surface of the water and only on the calmest days. Usually it's closer to 60 or less. We go without wetsuits too.

My old college republican club buddy guaranteed me this summer would be cooler. Another year of shattered records in terms of temp, events of rainfall and flooding early and drought late.

Of course this is just more to add to the model. In no way does this confirm climate change, it simply adds to the current model. You know, the scientific method of observation and building models of explanation.

You've been missing out on a pretty damn awesome summer here in Norcalistan there K. Been just below average most of it, but plenty of sunshine....

My Dad and I were talking about the weather this weekend. He mentioed SoCal has been below average also...only one day that he knows of hit 100 in the high desert. Seems the middle and southern areas of the country are dealing with the heat while the coasts (at least the west coast) and enjoying cooler than normal.

chavez, so I hear. You guys were waiting for the rain to stop and the summer to arrive as I recall as well.

I'm not really minding the heat so much as most of my work is inside during the day. But for the days like yesterday where I was outside all day long, it can be quite miserable.

Yeah, but once it stopped it was all good. Plus the lakes are all full.

Today will be 94~ish. Light wind. Overnight low in the high 50's.

this is the biggest deal here. the hot during the day isn't anything new, but the overnight lows are in the high 70s, low 80s and there's simply no relief. that, and it's back to 95 by 9am instead of 11.

Sounds like a typical August in Sacramento but we're having a mild summer. Few days in the 100's and other than a handful of nights that "delta breeze" has come through like clockwork. Of course, I'm a lot closer to the rivers than our other friends in the area so...

The weather man here was saying last night that by friday evening, our night time lows will be back in the 70's finally. Cant wait.

Hell, it's only 6:20 am here right now and it's already 85 degrees. Gonna be another hot one. Sun's not even up yet.

I used to get asked if the lake was a mile deep at least once a week when i worked on the water. The deepest is 220' or so at the dam.

Wow, that just shows how bad it is in some areas. 40' drop is quite a bit. Isn't the number a reference to sea level, also?
