ummm kickers are actually called kickers. Not even close to a "fake wake".

I am original a wakeboarder behind a Boat. and have my own nautique together with two mates of mine.

I absolutely, love riding behind the boat, and chilling in the boat with mates / family etc.

However I also go boarding on a few cables when i feel like it, so much fun with all the obstacles etc.

i don´t think either is real wakeboarding. they both are. you can practice a lot of tricks on the kicker, you get so much more airtime than on a wake. and when you have nailed it on the cable, it is easier to transfer it to the boat.

wakeboarding is about riding your board in the water, does not mater if it is behind a boat, cable or winch. As long as you are having fun.

just a little action from one of our cable trips.

hmm how do i embed this video directly, instead of linking to vimeo ??

I always ride behind the boat. I haven't had a chance to ride the cable, but Houston has a couple new parks opening next spring. I am looking forward to giving them a try. They will be closer to my house.

I have been riding boat for at least 10 years, and this year I started riding cable a few times at Wake Nation in Ohio, and I pretty much completely stopped riding boat toward the end of summer.

What can you do behind a boat that you can't do on cable? Nothing, and you have rails, kickers, and air tricks to do at the cable. There is always something fun and new to do, cable made me re-addicted to wakeboarding.

Ha, hit a kicker instead! And wakes change size day to day, kickers will always stay the same exact shape.

Though believe me I still love riding behind our loaded down X-star...

I dont get where this separation of boat and cable came from. My take on it is its 2 different aspects to the sport. Winching is a 3rd aspect. Either way your still getting towed behind some sort of handle. You can hit a kicker/rail behind a boat or cable. You can jump the wake behind a boat and do a trick, at the same time you can load the line and do that same trick at a cable park. Whats the difference.

Cable is great for the wake industry we all love, not everyone can ride behind a boat.

If you are shredding over water, then it is all good.

I've always ridden behind a boat BUT we now have a huge new cable park in Abu Dhabi - I missed the first cable day and everyone raved about it!

There are two huge lakes with 3 cables apparently - going this Friday - can't wait!
