Wow. You got some cajones if you're gonna call ME a dickhole after staking a claim that flies in the face of common sense and then justify it with a link to a thread where nobody actually says the Tamron is better.
Look, what's in that thread is really nothing new. Some dude stands still and takes a photo of some plants and deduces that they look the same. Whatever. Heck, I'll one-up that and show you that a $500 Canon point&shoot can take just as good a photo as a $40,000 Hasselblad setup (here). Start using the equipment in less friendly environments and you'll start to see why some stuff is vastly more expensive than other stuff.
And as much as I hate pixel peeping and lens tests in lab environments, I'm gonna leave you with this. The image is Canon's lens...put your cursor over it to see the Tamron version. http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/ISO-12233-Sample-Crops.aspx?Lens=101&Camera=9&Sample=0&FLIComp=0&APIComp=0&LensComp=366&CameraComp=9&SampleComp=0&FLI=1&API=0 _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

.........24-70mm f2.8 is for close ups and so forth right?
.........18-50mm f2.8 is for ????? similar in range these two huh?
.........70-200mm is for long range
right or way wrong??? _________________ IN GOD WE TRUST,..........ALL OTHERS MUST PAY CASH!!!!! |

scott a, you know i was kiddin about the dickhole thing. jeeze. But think about it. How can you justify buying the canon. Those tests the Canon was obviously better, but in real life an OKAY photographer like myself and most other people wont tell that much of a difference. So thats why i linked those threads for you and key to read to see how in reality the tamron would be a better buy, for most people.
That link to the canon vs hassy review was kinda interesting. I'll read the whole thing later. Im going to ride.
Damon, yeah, actually two 1k plus lenses. Lenses and lighting are actually more important than the body.
key, the lens you bought right now is about perfect for everything. But if you wanna go a little wider go for the sigma 18-50. If you want to go longer go for the 70-200. The 24-70 is a mid range lens. The 18-50 is wide angle to mid range and you are correct about the 70-200. |

I know my 40d has b/w and sepia. Not sure what the crazy blue color you are talking about is though. But in reality, you will mostly want to shoot normal and do any color adjustments afterwards. You will have much more control and more options when you use a program like photoshop to do you b/w shots. _________________

DRAGON88, abosolutely not. anyways That last statement about lighting was directed toward key.
| key wrote: | well i did bite the bullet. but made a few adjustments. i bought the 50d with the 28-135 lens. want to add a few other lenses to my arsenal, but for now i think this will get me started.

like i said before. you'll be good with that set up for a while. And don't waste money on cheap glass for your next purchase.... |

I thought you were getting the Canon 50d? Nikon doesn't have a 28-135mm lens which is what you said you were getting with it. What did you end up ordering, and from where? _________________

i had to go back and check my invoice to see what i actually ordered. i ordered the canon 50d. ive been taking in so much info the past few days from the net about photography and details about my camera,...that i think my brain is fried. i need a break and let some of this sink in.
i asked over at cameralabs.com for a printable version of the owners manual for a nikon D50. im such an idiot,......i read about 3/4 of this damn manual. came in to check my messages just now and see i have been corrected. now i need to get the canon manual. gisssh what a dumb dumb!!!! i guess its all in the learning curve. key, I know the feeling. I overloaded on info when I ordered my camera. Everything will make a lot more sense when you are actually holding your camera then when you are just reading about it ahead of time. _________________

i found one and printed it when i went to the printer here at work it had "copy" really big down the middle. then i went back and searched around and found one minus the "copy" down the middle.
so now its back to the beginning with the whole reading the manual thing. have to delete from memory yesterdays doings.......... _________________ IN GOD WE TRUST,..........ALL OTHERS MUST PAY CASH!!!!! |
