so i got a letter from IU-B today. i am on their wait list which i suppose is marginally better than a straight up rejection. honestly though, i think i've only made it this far because my dad is an alum. still waiting to hear from IU-Indy, and I have dinner tonight with one of the deans at Dayton's SL which should be interesting. Here's the advice I got about waiting lists: if you get accepted at one place, and waiting listed at the other, tell the waiting list school to get f'ed.

Having said that, I ended up attending law school at a school where I got waiting listed.

i got the letter from iu-indy today. rejected. i'm not too bummed about it since dayton seemed alright last weekend. i'm still on the waitlist at iu-b so if i get in here, i'll be spending 3 more years in bloomington. like my dad just said, there are tons of people applying to every school so at least i know i'm in somewhere (and with good scholarship money). now i'm really wishing i would have gotten my apps in earlier. hindsight's a bitch right? Congrats-that is a great feeling. The only feeling that is better is finding out you passed the bar so that your formal schooling is done forever.

I'd rather be working and paying taxes, student loans, bills, etc. than be doing all the work that law school requires for free. Good luck on the bar exam. Once you start, treat your studying like a 50 hour a week job and you'll be fine. Keep some balance in your life during bar prep. Don't go on the binge until maybe 4 days before the test. And don't spend the night before doing anything related to studying. You need to get a good night's rest and if you don't know the stuff by then you aren't going to learn it and remember it the night before.

STPHNSN23, as pet575 alludes to, everyone I know who passed the CA bar on the first try got into a strict routine mainly through the use of ambien. They all got used to the same sleep schedule they would need during the bar and the medication helped them avoid those insomniac nights due to anxiety. It's also a good idea to get a small daily workout in just to keep some sanity to it all.

Congratulations and good luck.

Should be graduating in 2 weeks as well. Have to finish up 2 huge papers, fight off this mono, and I should be walking Mother's Day weekend.

tomorrow is the day. i haven't been able to focus on studying for the last couple days. i feel like my brain is full. i keep reminding myself that i've been studying hard since may, and i'll do fine. almost 5 out of 6 pass the IN bar on their first try which is also encouraging. i'm just ready to take it and be done.

Good luck to both of you guys. Blow off some steam afterwards-it is something you'll never want to go through again so hopefully you both pass and don't have to do that. Also, enjoy waiting 6 weeks or so to find out the results.

STPHNSN23, you did the right thing. The only reasonable thing to do after that experience is to get completely torn down. I'm glad to hear you have a bad hangover; you did us proud!

I will always say that taking the bar exam was the second worst experience of my life. Praise Allah I passed because I wouldn't want to do it again if I didn't have to. Hopefully you and boarder52002 made out OK.

DRAGON88, do yourself a favor and make sure you attend any/all events at that orientation that appear to even have a whiff of a social function. I blew this off and showed up for the first day of school and only knew a few people from undergrad and was puzzled as to why so many people seemed to have already made their groups of friends before school had even started. Took a few weeks to catch up socially, because you will find that law students are VERY cliquish.

Thanks guys, guess I'll pencil myself in as a "attending" on the 15th potluck. If you guys have any other gems please feel free to toss 'em my way, they're much appreciated.

STPHNSN23, Brooks Brothers... When I went from Construction to Politics I took the most stylish girl I was hooking up with at the time to Brooks Brother, sat down and let her and the ladies there do all the leg work. Ended up with some great suits that still look good after 6-years. And some great iron-free shirts and good looking ties. I still buy my shirts exclusively from there. The first trick is going to set you back a few grand but it's a needed expense.

Too bad you just missed the Barney's Warehouse Sale in NY. I bought $6k of suits for $1500 when I was living out there....then I moved to CA and wear jeans to work now. Laughing

STPHNSN23, I don't find out for a few more weeks. Usually the results come out at the end of the first week or 2nd week in October.

Congrats tho on passing.

i'm bumping this thread beacuse i just made my final student loan payment. happy freaking friday! matriculating, graduating, passing the bar, and being sworn in were all great feelings, but i think getting out from under the school debt is better than all that. i can't wait to have some celebratory drinks tonight.
