| I ride murray all the time.Theres alot of traffic but if you hit it at the right time its pretty good. The lake is down about 8-9ft due to construction on the dam. There is alot of shallow areas and sand bars in some areas but i know where they are.holla if your ever out. |

Hey I am moving to Chaleston around the beginning of the year. Is there any good lakes to ride near there. I have a malibu VLX and want to keep it in fresh water.

fish, I'm not in Charleston, but I'm in Hilton Head Island to the south. We are all part of the Atlantic intracoastal. There are no lakes to speak of in the immediate Chas. area as far as I know but there is an extensive river system including the ACE basin consisting of the Ashepoo, Combahee, and Edisto rivers. Here is some info regarding the dividing lines between saltwater and freshwater in coastal South Carolina.
http://www.dnr.sc.gov/marine/dividingline.html
While I understand your reluctance to put your boat in saltwater, thousands of boaters here do it every day, including yours truly. Depending on where in Charleston you settle, you may not have a choice unless you are willing to tow your boat a fair distance to find freshwater. Its really just a matter of regular, thorough maintenance. I wash and flush my boat and all my gear after every outing. So far, so good.
On a positive note, tidal creeks make for some BUTTERY water if you catch them at the right time, usually as close to dead high or dead low tide as possible. Oh, and watch out for the oyster beds...they're a mofo!

Nice butter HHI Dave.
Hey guys, I just moved here from NJ/NYC. I've been riding for 3 years and hope to meet some of ya out on the water this year. I plan to ride with Boike in spring and get some riding in. I would love to get a lot of riders together some day to hang out, ride, and maybe do some BBQ and stuff. It seems there's a fair amount of riders here, that's good to see. I'm in Charlotte, NC and will ride anywhere in the area. From what I hear, Wylie seems to be a good spot tho.
I hope to see ya's out on the water soon!
Later,
Dave aka sssk8rat _________________ Got pot? |

lofosho_97, My g/f's father just bought some lakefront property on Murray. We may drag the boat up there this summer. |

I'm on the state line in Aiken, (on the state line by Augusta) there's a couple of people that ride around here although I've been out of the game for a few years. As I get back into the swing of things I'd love to meet up with some riders on either Thurmond or Murray, i'm about an hour away from both. _________________ JB

mrb01tj-
you may want to check out clark's hill lake/ S.Thurmond lake. it is on the boarder of sc/ga by north augusta, sc. it is pretty far inland but is a sweet lake - very deep, clear and not very crowded and some good creeks for wakeboarding. However, there is not much else to do there but wakeboard, fish and drink beer. |

We ski on the Wado River and on Lake Marion. If you go north of Hwy 41 on the WAndo River it is about 50 % salt water. To get past the brackish water you have to go up the Cooper river almost all the way to the lock. Look at H2Osmosis. It is a private ski lake. You can join and they pull you with brand new Mastercraft boats. I can't remember the fee. About once a year they have a pro tournament. I think the lake still holds a few world records.
Check it out. |

| I live on Murray, Lexington side-Spence Plantation area. Usually ride 5-6 days a week! Lake is great if you know what times to hit it...and no lake level problems during riding season since construction on the dam ended. Check out Lake Murray Rough riders website. |
