Hey JJ,

Like I said, sometimes the cheap ass guitars play better than the expensive ones. Most of my guitar weren’t that expensive, but every one has a unique sound and works great for a different styles. It’s ok to have the badest axe, but I’d rather have the badest chops and play a crappy bass.

Keep on jamming JJ !

well my bass wasn't exactly cheap and im really glad that i bought it. the price was definatly right for the quality of the instrument. and i play rock jazz and fusion. but ill play what ever anyone wants me to. lots of people will ask me to accompany them so i stay pretty versitle but mostly rock jazz and fusion is what i play

I live in central California. Were you from slickrick? I’m always looking for people to jam with. I have a pretty nice home recording studio, it would be good to have some fresh bass chops on some tracks.

Duke,

Central Cali as in Santa Barbara? That's my alma mater. I'd love to visit your studio jam witcha next time I'm in the area. I'm gonna get the Boss RC-20 loop station sometime soon so I can try to mimic Victor Wooten's track layering (although I'm sure I'll be nowhere near as stylish).

Acoustic, I suck!

I can only play like half of the 10 songs I think I can play....I'm really only into it for the relaxation of sitting down and jamming....I usually only play after 4:20 on a Sunday.

I would much rather beat the drums but no space for that....
I have been told all drummers are just frustrated guitarists anyway....

PEACE

Actually, I think the story goes that bassists are frustrated guitarists. Mr. Green

What kinda strings you all use?

For guitar i use Ernie ball slinky- Heavy, light, and regular

For bass i use these strings from a small company called chucks guitar strings. They are pretty cheap and i love the sound.

I order my strings from a company called MusicYo.com, they're SUPER-cheap & they sound good. Once I bought Dean Markley Blue Steels for $50 & they broke in a month, I was SO pissed! Evil or Very Mad For my acoustic bass I hafta get La Bella nylons. They're costly, but I don't play it that often & even when I do I'm not droppin' hammers on it like I do on my electrics so they last a good long time.

Sean, I have a Rob Allen 5-string. If you wanna see what it looks like here's a link, mine's the model with the walnut top.

http://www.roballenguitars.com/pages/products.html

Unless your grandparents are lookin' to drop about $1500 for your birthday present this isn't the one for you, but I know lotsa companies make affordable acoustic basses (around $300-400). Epiphone, Fender, & Dean all come to mind.

Duke, what kinda boat throws a fast enuff wake for you to surf on & how in the world to you get into it? I hafta assume you don't paddle into it like you do when you're surfing.
