I was wakeboard and my dad was trying to drive double ups for me and these jestskiers kept cutting infront of us so we couldnt . We went back and i got my cousin to drive and he can through a sick d-up. He made a sweet one and the jet skier went in for it and smashed his face on the bars. There was alot of blood . lol . Il think of funnier ones later.

Fitz- Mid Day on a weekend is no time to wakeboard my friend. I always got runs in at 6am-10am. Worked 11-7.

Funniest thing had to be what we saw last summer. We saw this boat just chillin in the middle of the water. We assumed that they had gotten their rope stuck around the prop. We were right. We were gearing up getting ready to ride and they were still there trying to get their rope undone. Finally, they got ready to took off. My friend yelled something like, "Got your rope stuck huh?" and the girl on the boat replied (seriously) "Yeah it is our third rope". You know the guys on the boat were embarassed. Some people just shouldn't be allowed on the water....

some people just have a thing for running over ropes one dude that rides with me ran over 3 last summer but i haven't run over any. it usually happens when the driver is talkin to the rider while he is bringing the rope back around and he's not paying attention where he's going.

but the best part is... my dad was yelling at me that morning for not paying attention when i drive, and because i never watch the rope or check for boats around us. and then literally an hour later - he ran the rope over because he was too busy talking to my mom. my mom n i just sat there and laughed while he had to cut it off... good times

My brothers friend wore a skateboard helmet jumping off the side of the boat going 40+ mph. All while listening to "Let the bodies hit the floor". We got it on video too.

(I realize it doesnt sound that funny when I explain it that way)

This may be one of those "you had to be there" things but the funniest thing I ever saw was the time a giant friend tried to wakeboard on an old 18' 4-cylinder runabout.

This guy is a giant dude, like 6'8" or something and he was always like, "No, I don't think I want to wakeboard. I'm too big and clumsy." Anyway, we got him to try so he put on the too-small vest and hopped in the water sporting his swim goggles...yes swim goggles. That sight was funny enough but there's more...

Cut to the hole shot. We hit the gas and rather than popping up, he somehow headed underwater. Within a split second, he was completely submerged. The boat was struggling to get up to speed while he was playing submarine commander. Funny stuff. This went on for around 5 seconds until...POP...the rope came flying into the boat and he slowly bobbed to the surface. As we were laughing, we noticed that the relatively new Accurate handle was no more. I think we were still laughing when we circled back and told him he couldn't try again because he broke our only handle in half.

Ask Rocko about running over ropes.

My friend Todd had his tower ripped off last summer at Lake Travis. His boarder fell, when he went back to pick him up the rider decided to come back in. Everyone was watching the rider swim in when a Cobalt came about 5 ft from the boat, his prop snagged the ski line and ripped the tower off. The game warden said Todd was at fault because he did not bring the rope in. The 2 people in the Cobalt were borrowing a boat from a friend and had never driven one before.... Long story is Todd's insurance had to pay for the repairs to the boat and get a new tower.

B-rad,

Are you serious? It's illegal on all the Highland Lakes (including Travis) to operate within 50 ft. of swimmers, boats, shorelines, etc. at anything greater than minimum steerage/headway (no-wake) speed. That being the case, I can't imagine how the tower incident could have been anyone's fault but the Cobalt driver's.

When I was in high school, my girlfriend and I went out in the boat just to cruise around. We had the canopy up and one thing led to another..... Next thing I know, I see my friend's dad about 10' away from us. He came over and asked if anything was OK.

I told him "Yeah, everything's fine. We were just, errrr.....drifting." He got this funny look on his face and took off. My friend was dating my girlfriend's sister, so I never heard the end of it.

Other than that, the scariest thing I ever saw involved a jet skier. We had a slalom course set up on our lake and the guys were always good about hitting it early in morning and late in the afternoons. They let the families have the lake in between. Well, I was out riding and was probably about 200' to the outside of the slalom course and this stupid jet skier had been farting around with boats all day. He charged the boat to hit it's wake - I'm assuming he didn't see the skier at first. When he saw the skier and the rope, he swerved, but it was too late. He slammed the bow of his jet ski into the port bow side of the boat. The jet skier was ejected over the bow of the boat and flew so far that he landed in water that was about 3' deep.

The jet ski was destroyed, the boat was severely damaged and I believe the jet skiier broke his arm. He was found at fault, but the town made th ski club pull the slalom course so as to avoid "possible future incidents." That's complete BS. Ban the jet ski before you take out the slalom course. The guys skiing were in the right and the jet ski was a complete ass!

Hey Salmon, The officer said it is the Ski boat's responsibility to bring the rope in after it is dropped in the water. He said the rope is longer than 50', and would not hear anything else. When he arrived he seemed to have already made his decision about who was at fault. There was us, mid 20's with hats, a few tattoo's and beer cans in the boat. Then there was the Cobalt, typical mid to late 30's couple that stated our rope was so far off the boat they didn't see it. I need to find the ticket Todd got for the accident, iI can't remember what the actual charge was. He actually had to take Boaters saftey or pay a fine for it though.

I was at the river back home with the pwc's (jetski) and my brother and I were racing through a narrow pathway (maybe 7 feet at most) and it had many curves. I was in the lead and I decided to see how far I was in front of him so I look back, but since there were so many curves by the time I look back in front I hit land and the thing flew about 10 foot and slid quite a bit furthers more through the tall grass. My brother said all he saw was the tall grass open and close.

Yeah it was a sad day on the lake for us. It took about 2 weeks for the boat to get everything fixed and then another 2 weeks for the tower to come in.

Parasailing behind a mates boat, about 60 - 70 feet in the air, and he stops the boat to give way to a couple of other boats, forgetting that I was falling rapidly out of the sky. Looking around he sees me about to hit the water and floors the boat, me coping a severe dunking and him coping substantial abuse from me once I had resurfaced.

Last year our water level dropped about 6 feet and someguy had a new i/o and he was driving through a shallow area and he hit a rock. He ripped his outdrive off and wrecked his transom. When he hit it , it sounded like a gun went off.

at my camp, two guys were heading back to camp in the fishing boat, but they forgot something on the fishing dock so they turned sharply right as an oncoming boat passeed. they flipped it and htey weren't wearing the trip chord. so the engine was putting around in circles.
