| ok aubs but i still hate him on the court. i dunno why, but i have NEVER liked the lakers. i think that they would win more if kobe and shaq would work together like malone and stockten which by the way are one of the best duos ever in basketball history. at least that's what i think. |

Fitzpattycake, you're absolutely right, Malone and Stockton are one of the best, if not the best, duo the NBA has ever had. Kobe and Shaq does/did work together...thus, 3 rings. You don't get rings by not working together.
Grace, yeah, the way you worded it, you were totally rippin' on Kobe. I agree that he's made bad decisions here and there, but, Jordan used to make mistakes all the time. Give Kobe time...we probably haven't seen the best of him yet.
In case you guys couldn't tell, I'm a Laker fan...always have, always will. From the days of Magic Johnson to Sedale Threatt to Nick Van Exel. From Norm Nixon to Byron Scott to Eddie Jones. From Mark Landsberger to Kurt Rambis. Jamaal Wilkes to James Worthy. Bob McAdoo to Sam Perkins. Of course, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. That's how far back I've followed the Lakers. Anyone remember some of those names?
But, I'm also an NBA fan and give credit to where credit's due. I love Peja's game. He is a straight up, pure shooter. I don't care if he's at mid-court...guard him! Don't play 'em too tightly...he'll put the ball on the ground and surprise you w/ moves and speed.
Allen Iverson...for someone as short as he is(short for the NBA), he does play pretty big. He makes big buckets and will just drive you crazy.
A few guys I like to watch play...
Bonzi Wells
Rasheed Wallace
Cuttino Mobley
Michael Finley
Dirk Nowitzki
Antawn Jamison
Shaun Marion
Gary Payton
Eddie Jones
Jason Williams
and of course, Michael Jordan
Sacramento almost beat us last year, if not for Horry luckily getting the ball. But his experience and pure shooting touch gave the Lakers the chance. No one, I mean NO ONE, could have beaten the Lakers, with the exception of the Kings. They match up with the Lakers very well.
Some things to look for...look at how San Antonio's playing. They'll be the ones to beat, if not Sacramento or the Lakers. If Sacramento gets home court advantage throughout the playoffs, I don't think anyone can topple them...'cept for the Lakers. I think they proved last year that they can win at the Arco Arena.
Watch out, too, for the Mavericks. No one else, not even Phoenix or Minnesota, is a threat in the West. They're all in the playoffs to make the NBA some money!
The East, on the other hand, is wide open. Any team can take it on any given day. But, if it comes down to experience, it'll be Indiana and New Jersey, with the Sixers makin' a run. Keep an eye on the Magics...they could be trouble for whoever they play in the first round. Boston could make a run, but I doubt it. You live by the 3, you die by the 3. New Orleans and Milwaukee better make some runs or the Knicks and the Wizards could take their spots.
With your NBA report, this is Jumalian signing off.. (stooopid!) _________________ my demo reel

Well, since we're talking about ridiculus comments...Anyone who is playing well when the playoffs come is a threat, especially with a best of seven first round series. |

| Who ever comes out of the West is going to win it all. The East doesn't have enough size or talent to beat the teams in the West in a 7 game series. I would love to see Boston get into the Finals, they are favorite team in the East, but I just don't think they can do it. They shoot way too many threes. As far as in the West I hope the Blazers get it, the good Blazer team just has to show-up! But I think that the Spurs, Kings, and Lakers are all capeable (SP)ofgttingthere, just depends on who is playing their best basketball. Since we are talking about players we like to watch here are some of my favs: Paul Pierce, Rasheed, Bonzi, TMac, Vince Carter, and Iverson. Good game on ABC tomorrow, the Mavs and the Kings. |

Joe- I still think the Mavs are a few years away. They truly have problems stopping high scoring teams like the Lakers and Kings. San Antonio is playing so well right now. With the twin towers they are very strong. It's looking like the season end is going to be exciting. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

Yeah, this is turning out to be an exciting season for the NBA. San Antonio's on fire. I'd be surprised if they don't go far in the playoffs. Problem is, I'd also be surprised if the Lakers and/or Kings don't go far. Yeah, the Mavs have a year or two to go, but I wouldn't be surprised if they squeeze in to the Western Conference Finals. We'll see...the West is up for grabs for the Kings, Mavs, Spurs and the Lakers.
Jello, I'll stand by my word that no one else in the West is a threat to the top 4 teams.
Grace, you're right...Boston has talent, but not quite enough to go all the way. As for the Blazers, if they "show up" they have a chance to beat the top 4 in the West, but in a 7 game series, I doubt it.
There's a great game on right now...the Mavs at the Kings. Nowitzki's on fire! _________________ my demo reel

Well, with the way things are going right now, one of those teams won't make it out of the first round. I was unaware that the Lakers were a top 4 team.
I think the Mavs won't make it out of the second round possibly. I understand that they have been the top team all year, but they struggle against good West teams and aren't a great defensive team. |

Jello John, the Lakers weren't considered a good team last year...until the playoffs. That's what I'm talking about. Come playoff time, the Lakers will be tough to beat. _________________ my demo reel

Ok sorry for the newbie question here...but I dont get to see ANY NBA here, so I havent seen any for this season. Who is playing centre for the Pacers this year? Ive always been a fan of them and watched them regularly until I left NZ last year...how are they doing? Reggie playing ok? _________________ And if @$$holes could fly, this place would be busier than O'Hare |

| Their center is Brad Miller. They were doing really well up until recently. I think they were the top team in the Eastern Conference and then just imploded after the All-Star Break and lost like 10 of 11 or somethink like that. I think Reggie Miller's playing ok. I think he's scoring like 14 points a game or something around that. |

Good game today. Nothing like a little OT. Just makes the whole Western Conference even more complicated. I can't wait till playoffs. Thursday Kings vs. Lakers. Classic grudge match. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

That's exactly what I was saying. Any team can do well in the playoffs if they are playing well at that time. They aren't a top 4 team yet though. Well, actually I don't see the Jazz or whoever gets the 8th seed winning though.
Does anyone else think that Mike Bibby wasn't really a great selection to represent us in the Olympics. I mean, I think he's a good player, but there are just so many better point guards in the league that I don't think he was a good choice. |

Mike Bibby is one of the best passing guards in the league. He's a great player in the clutch and steps up for the games that count. Look at the Kings vs Lakers series last year. Bibby was a dominating force through out that series. During the Kings vs. Mavs playoff series last year he dismantled Steve Nash's game. Bibby is a great selection. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

Yes, any team can do well in the playoffs if they are playing well at the time...but I still don't think they can beat the "top 4 teams to beat in the West". (not the top 4 teams by record)
I'm not sure about the Bibby selection. There are quite a few great point guards out there, I'm not sure Bibby's the right player, though. He's an awesome player which is to say I'm not so sure it was a bad idea Bibby was selected. Pretty confusing, eh? _________________ my demo reel

Seventh is most likely although eighth way more possible that sixth unless the Jazz have an easy schedule the rest of the season, or if they suddenly start playing really well.
It's not like I think it's terrible that Bibby made the team, but rather that I thought we were supposed to put the best of the best on our Olympic team, and while he's very good, I could probably name at least five point guards who are better than him. I just thought that after our embarrassing loss last summer at the world championships that we'd be trying to field the best possible team this year. |

| Bibby is a great point guard, a good passer and a good leader. But there are better points out there- Kidd and Payton are good examples. I'm sure that Bibby will do fine, he probably just isn't the best pick they could of made IMO. |

They can't play real basketball that's why they are on the And1 tour. Most of those tricks would get carrying, double dribble, and traveling calls. But you're right it would be sweet. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

NorCal mentioned Payton and Kidd, above. They're going to be free agents at the end of the year.
It's been talked about a lot already, than Jason Kidd's going to San Antonio. If it happens, the West just got stronger. If it happens, will Tony Parker be part of the package, demand to be traded or could he accept coming off the bench?
Payton has brought his wife and kids to Milwaukee, to show them around. To see if the Paytons could live there. If the answer is "no", there are going to be a lot of teams salivating to sign him.
One team I hope gets him is the Lakers. The Lakers are weak in that position. Though Payton's aging, he's still a damn good basketball player. He can score, but doesn't whine about not getting the ball.
This coming off season is going to be interesting, with the draft (Lebron James), trades, and the abundance of free agents. _________________ my demo reel

do you mean that kobe's ugly in the way he looks because he's so pretty that he makes other people look ugly? because if you do you're right.
do you mean that he stinks by saying he smells bad because he stinks up the court in a good way? (insert sarcastic zoolander look here) |

wake152 - Francis is a point guard. He may play like a 2 at times a la Iverson, but he is a 1.
jumalian - SA may well go after Kidd and try to deal Parker, but I think that would be SO stupid. Parker plays the point great, and is barely 20 yrs old. I think they should go after a serious stud 3 and Olowokandi to help Tim down low. Duncan, Kandi and Malik Rose is a pretty tough rotation down low - especially if they can get some wing play.
Love watching the Mavs play, but they're soft...no way they make the Conference Finals going through LA and then Sacramento. |
