Uh, have you heard of AIDS, herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis, and/or genital warts? The pill and/or sponge can't prevent sexually transmitted disease.

Please don't give the wrong information in here, since there are kids in here.

Wow, your statement is straight from a TV drama, "because it's still the responsibility of the Female?!!?!?."

I don't think it is the female's responsibility, it is the couple's responsibility. I just think the pill is best because it is highly effective and you don't have to do anything before hand, carry anything around with you, etc... It leaves you free to go for it whenever and wherever the mood strikes you. I think the patch is bad as well, I also don't know if I'd trust the sponge. The stat's look okay, but it seems like accident's could more easily happen. Only things I'd trust is condoms, the pill, and surgery. Also, since I don't do random people, STD's aren't an issue.

If you're in a relationship, the pill is the way to go, no doubt. A lot of girls I know are having that microchip implant done at the moment, but you can feel it under their skin, which is weird....

Nobody in the US seems to have heard much about it.... Its very popular here in OZ, Its a small implant about 3cm's (1 & 1/4 inch) long, and about as thick as a knitting needle, they implant it in your arm and it offers contraceptive protection for.... 6 months I think, apparently there are no side effects.

How does it work? No freakin' idea.

(oh, it goes in the females arm... I didn't specify that)

Being that I do not have random partners I don't have to worry about STD's either.... No one in here claimed to be giving out a public sevice announcement. If someone takes my or anyone else words for truth in here with out getting any other information they are mistaken. So kids if you are going to have sex with multiple partners that you don't know, use a condom.... there happy?

IUD stands for Intrauterine Device. Intra=inside; Uterine=uterus An IUD is a copper wire which is placed in the uterus which chemicaly changes the environment of the uterus so that a fertilized egg will not survive.

I don't know what the microchip is, but it sounds alot like Norplant which is a sub dermal implantation of hormones. Like the microchip, it is also done in the arm

I'd like to hear more about the microchip.

I think that the "microchip" is actually Norplant. If not, then it is probably some type of controller that controls the release of something, a computer controlled version of Norplant. That IUD comment also made me laugh. A lot.

My gf rocks the patch and loves it!!! I actually feel better about it too b/c she dosn't have to take a pill every day, it cuts the possibility of forgetting down to almost nothing.

jumalian, no one was talking about preventing STD infection, we were talking about contraception...it wasnt like any products were being promoted...just discussion.how was common sense not used? I have thought most of these posts were fairly mature?? apart from Sponge Bob or whatever.

Jimmy Hats just give me peace of mind. Who knows if she missed a pill or whatever. I have a friend who gets that shot of Depovera sp? I guess she really likes it but I've heard some girls have bad side effects.
