Okie Boarder, It's on for Friday! I'm going to go about 10:30 AM because I have some work to do on the boat.

cross12920, Draper is the better lake in that area. And closer to you I would think. Like Okie said, I know there are some guys on here that go out there, maybe they'll chime in.

Draper is for sure not better than Tbird, plus Draper is closed for a while. Tbird is too but not for long, they just have to finish cleaning up the marina. Should be back open this week.
If anyone wants to come out to Tbird and wakeskate, I'm always down. Shoot me a PM.

Friday Okie Boarder and I went out and the water was smooth, air temperature was over 80, and the water seems to be heating up right on schedule. Planning on going out over the holiday weekend. The Moomba is up and running if anyone wants a pull.

bryanbryanbb08, I just found out this weekend that they are closing the dam for repairs and they expect it to have no flow into draper for two years! I say draper is better because is a small lake, and it's not popular with water sports. In otherwords, the water is a lot smoother. With the levels down though, it's out of the question.

I am new to the wakeboarding scene and I am looking for a good place either in OKC or the Lawton area (or somewhere between) for riding. I have been to draper in the past, but with it being closed its out of the question. I have also checked out Lawtonka, Tom Steed, and Ellsworth. The only one that seems to be any good out of those is Tom Steed, mostly because it is not well known.

Anyone have any advice on good locations? The OK wind is terrible making riding miserable sometimes.

Yea you really have to watch the weather report in Oklahoma especially for wind speeds. Some of us from this board actually took off work last week just based on wind speed and it definitely paid off. You also have to find the low wind sweet spots on your particular lake. Sunrise, sunset, these are the best times to ride on a windy day. A lot of guys swear the overcast days are consistently low wind too. As for good lakes in your area someone else will have to answer that.

I check the wind speed at weather.com ...it seems to be accurate most of the time. Just enter the zip code for your lake.

Christobull, I knew draper was closed just had no idea why. That is really going to up the traffic at Tbird and surrounding lakes with draper down for the next two years...

tjlowery, I hit up thunderbird most of the time, it's back open now. Most of the time smooth water can be found, especially during the week. Don't even think about trying to ride on a weekend out there unless you want to ride at sun up.

Wow, that is a real bummer about Draper. I'm moving down that way this summer and that's one lake I was considering.

I would forget Texhoma for boarding, the smoothest I've ever seen it is still a day I would just sit in the boat and drink instead of ride. A local might have a prized spot, but the coves and shoreline that are smooth enough to ride are too shallow for my own comfort. If I remember right, there are quite a few stumps about as well.

tjlowery, I wakeboard at Texoma alot and I would say that its rough but you just have to know which spots to go depending on the wind that day. Its such a huge lake that you should be able to find some spots, though you have to deal with the occasional jackass jet skis. I would maybe suggest a map if you try texoma... oh btw it's Texoma not Texhoma.. haha

I'll be at Tenkiller, but this whole weekend looks prime. Hope you guys have fun. If anyone will be out that way, hit me up. We're planning on having a couple of boats out there riding whenever possible.

We've got a dock by snake creek, but I think the only place smooth enough to ride during the day will be north of the bridge. We'll look for you out there. We'll have a yellow and black Centurion and a black and white Tige most likely.

Anyone around Skiatook looking to ride? I have a Malibu Sunscape with plenty of fat sacs. Always looking for riders.

Usually I prefer going at night during the week, I get off work around 4. Weekends are ok if its early morning in order to beat all the tubers and drinkers.

hey guys,

Just moved to okc. I wakeboarded in seattle almost every week. I work in Edmond but I live in south okc. I went to arcadia a 2 weeks ago but couldn't ride because it was just me and my wife. I need to get in touch with a few riders around the area. I'm off at 5 everyday and usually free on the weekends. we can take my boat or yours.

Okieboarder Arcadia is a decent lake but watch out for the trash that is there. Canton Lake is a very nice lake kinda small and shallow just north of Watonga which isn't to terribly far from Edmond maybe an hour and half or so and if you get a chance head out west to Ft. Cobb. We have been hitting it up most sundays all summer long and is a decent smaller lake. I know this is at the end of the season but this is the first time seeing this thread. Oh Lake of the Arbuckles is a nice spring fed lake too.
Chris

Trash?

Yeah, we'd like to check out some of the other lakes around...probably next season.
