We've contacted our County Supervisor as well as an expert in these systems (ironically, he's the one Mrs. Inspector calls for advice). We're meeting with a lawyer this week as well. There are several options at this point and we are just tying to determine the best course of action given our facts. Ideally we get the unit permitted as a dwelling, but would be happy with it as an accessory building if need be. They have threatened potential demolition which we don't view at a fair option and think that is a remote outcome.
