Are you sure? The eagle doesn't look that bad... the flame looks like somebody just stuck it on there in PS. And the Caw... man, I blame the tattooer. But like I said, to each his own.
Do eagles even say "caw?"
idk.

You only have to wear long sleeves in the office if you work with douchebags.
Plus, consider this.. You know all those hot little Bettys in the tight business suits with the pencil skirts and the perfect hair and makeup that sit across from you at business meetings and act like they have it all together? A little slip of some color at the edge of your shirt sleeve makes them positively wet. They all want to bang a badass....
Not that I know from experience, just observation.
I love contrast though. I like sitting in a business meeting knowing that I'm not the same as all these other clones and they would be disgusted with me if they saw my ink.
Clearly, I have issues. |
First - I would keep the mallard and add quack quack...That would be classic!
Second - 90% of those tools sitting in the meeting with you have tats. In the 60s and 70s tats separated you from the pack. Today a tat still separates you. It separates you into the other 50% of the population that has one...Dont get me wrong tats make you different but only in the fact that you feel differently about yourself.

Does anyone know if Aaron Hale ended up even getting the "Caw" tattoo. If i remember correctly, he just posted it as an idea to get everyone's opinion and then he became an internet legend, and disappeared from the board

This is the background of my computer. It is from Mike Ennen's site. I don't know how it would come out as a tattoo but I think it would be pretty damn awesome.

I am thinking about getting an asclepius. A lot of kids in my class have them but I would want something with some design in it and artistic looking. This would be my first tattoo. I would also like to incorporate some water into it as my life revolves around the water

I am fully sleeved.
Granted, that doesn't really make me different from a lot of people who are fully sleeved... but there is a difference between a little devil on your shoulder or a dolphin on your bikini line and a full sleeve. It's a hoakey argument, I realize. I get tattoos..well, because I like it. I like the ritual, I like the way they look, I like having them and I like being different in that the overwhelming majority of people on earth are not sleeved.
But I do also like the fact that I look very conservative, yet have a very non-conservative permanant and LARGE body modification.
Everyone gets tattooed for their own reasons... none are good or bad I suppose. It's only skin, and it is NOT permanant, like many people say. It only lasts for YOUR lifetime...

Probably not good. All that black will probably bleed over into the very thin white lines over time. Although the waves and the tree would probably work pretty well. And I'm sure you could pull off some variation of the rocks and mountains and sky.
It's funny though... I'm pretty sure that people do look at you differently when you are heavily tattooed. some dude with a sleeve carried my packages to the car the other day in the rain while I had the baby under the other arm. And some lady in line at a different store simply could not hide her disgust and also confusion... I think she thought that heavily tattooed people don't have babies because they are too busy scoring heroin or something...

But Jester, that's what's so cool about being heavily tattooed now... it's no longer a trend for criminals, bikers and drug addicts... in fact, GOOD work is becoming a sign of affluence or creativity. Anyhow.... So, nobody else wants to post their ink? Is everyone afraid of what people will say or something? I was hoping to see some recent work on people...

I hate it when tatooed people need surgery in the area of their tatoo.

Depending on the type of job I agree 100%. For example the pic below is a lady that works at one of the worlds premier graphics card companies. Apparently she wears backless clothing quite often. For so many of the jobs around here, much of it is based on creativity. I was consulting at a big game design company. I've been around a ton of engineers, but those related to the game industry are by far the most eclectic.
Not my style, but technically it is an amazing tattoo, seriously top notch work.

That is impressive. I can't really see the lines, so I can't say it's good work, but it clearly looks impressive for sure. Really though, check out www.yellowblaze.net for some stuff that will knock your socks off. That guy's use of shading to create depth is amazing. He does some pieces where there is something underwater...like a skull underneath some swimming koi, and I swear it looks like you are seeing through the person into a third dimension..

I have no tatoos but everytime I see work like that, I get a strange itch. But once you see work of that quality, you could never settle for something less. But who has the time or money to track down an artist of that caliber?

| My two best friends and I are going to get a tattoo this coming break, it may sound lame or stereotypical of kids in college, but we are getting a somewhat crushed beer can, but I can't decide where to put it. When we thought of the idea we though butt cheek or something, but I think I would like to show it more without having to pull the pants down.

| It wouldnt be guys tattooed on me, just a squished beer can. Forgot to add that we would be getting my buddies initials on it that passed away over the summer, not huge letters, but something forhim. Not to mention it would be small and definitely not on my back.

The HOW he does it is not that difficult. But DOING it is. He does the "background" parts in a black wash with thicker but lighter lines, then he makes the "foreground" parts larger and in a brighter color with a sharp lines. The lighter the wash in the piece, the "deeper" the object looks.
The trick is making the "wash" (ink diluted with water) even lighter under the water lines.
Next time we're hanging out, take a look at my latest piece. That's what we are going for. But it's not easy to actually do. But I'm FASCINATED by the mechanics of this whole thing.
http://www.checkoutmyink.com/tattoos/teejay/2nd-sit-on-rich-s-forearm
You can see she's going for that look here... the trout are done with a slight wash and the salamander is real bright and shaper... I'm anxious to see how it turns out. She's not as good as the Yellowblaze.net guy at doing that style, but she also doesn't require that I fly to Japan and spend 500 bucks an hour... and she's real nice and does very good work. I'm pretty happy with it and can't wait until it's finished.

I have only skimmed much of this thread but I agree with cameraboy alot.
I love having the tattoos I do have, and its an interesting take on the "image" of tattooed individuals a while back i found a link to a site that had professionals in the work place (doctors, lawyers. etc) then next page they had like full out sleeves and back pieces and I thought that was awesome.
I got booted from college for a semester and got my head on straight ended up making deans when i was allowed back in. I got a a cross on my left shoulder with the symbols of mother and father inside to represent that experience how god and my family stood by me and never gave up.. etc...
I randomly got my intials on the back of my triceps, S on my left, W on my right in a script, i like the look of them and when i got mine lebron was the only person that i had ever seen with them, they served no significance, except the desire to add more ink.
the the last one my dad and i got together just last fall, i did some search of my family history and found our italian last name and I have an american and italian flag criss cross with the corresponding name above in arch over my right shoulder.
the next one in mind is a scene around my cross, I want a battle between angels (hell and heaven) and what not, i want it to have a good amount of detail and be a bit extensive so it will be quite costly.. hence why i have not got it yet

Really wanna get a tattoo now that I have graduated (couldn't get it before unless I wanted to pay for my 4yrs of undergrad). Having a hard time selecting a spot for it. I'm thinking ribs (similar to Megan Fox's placement). Though it is becoming a popular place, it is hidden under a shirt and will only be seen when wearing a bikini.
Any thoughts on that location?

My mother has the chinese symbol for strength.
My mom is one of the strongest women I've ever known, held my family together through thick and thin.
I want to get the same tattoo, however, I have no idea where or how large. I'm a skinny boy (5'8'' 130 lbs)
I was thinking my wrist, but I honestly have no idea.
Anybody have any ideas?

aubs you can always put it on the upper middle portion of your back/neck as long as the size isn't huge. Then it will only be visible when your hair is up or if you cut your hair short. The area i'm talking about is where my star is and up(see pic below lol)

| naa, that star represents my family. We're not perfect, but as long as you look at the whole instead of the details you get a real good picture lol. I will have it filled the rest of the way in lol but i'm in no hurry to spend money on it right now (stupid weddings lol)

I respect people's choices to cover stuff up sometimes, but I have one "bad" tattoo, but I'll never cover it up. For a few reasons, first being that it's what I got, that's that. Second being that who knows what will be in vogue or "cool" in the future, and I should't care anyway what anyone else thinks, and lastly, it's a record of who I was and what I was doing at that time.
I like that star anyway. It's unique. I'm starting to get tired of "perfect" tattoos anyway. My left arm has been started, and the plan is to sleeve it in all "traditional, old school" stuff. That stuff is far from "good" compared to the photo realistic stuff they do today, but the more I look at the traditional stuff, the more I appreciate it and screw anyone who wants to say different, I say!

Hey, everyone has the right ot do to their body as they see fit. and I'm nobody to criticize anyone's choice of ink or location for ink. But I sorta chuckle when someone is jazzed about getting inked, but it hast to be in a place nobody can see. Nothing wrong with that. It's just the opposite of my frame of mind and I can't get there mentally.
