Yea, I have those guys on my lake too. They usually stay in the main channel part which isn't really close to my cottage, so they don't bug us. A couple of my friends have gotten ticketed for not having all the necessary safety things in their boat...

The trick is to keep moving. They seem to target most people on my lake when they're just hanging out in the boat. We've only been stopped twice in the past 3 years. We tend to hang out at the dead end of our lake though. Not too many other boats in the area, so I guess the lake police are busy with everyone else. I think as the sport grows and you see more wakeboard boats piled with people, the more you'll get pulled over. Most wakeboard boats have a party going on.

We have the Sheriffs Dept. patrolling our waters on the weekends. But you have to be doing something really stupid to get pulled over.I've been playing around there for over 20 years and we've never been harrassed. They do come up and talk to us but they just want to hang out! If it wasn't for these guys we would have some major idiots causing alot of damage! I guess we're lucky to have some cool water cops!

Wow, you guys have it bad. I only see them on my lake like twice a year, and I've never been pulled over. I'd think there would be more on a lake as full as mine, but hey, I'm not complaining Very Happy

You're right. They're probably just jealous that were out having fun while they have to patrol the lakes.

I havent seen them at all. I am surprised about that. I used to see them all the time on a lake close by when i was little. I never did think that they did anything. Most of them just made sure kids werent drinking on the boats and made sure that no one was violating "boat wake policy". Totally dumb, but oh well. My advice, stick to the rules best you can and dont mind them. Figure out if there is any way possible to protest against tickets you might get in the future. Like if you get a speeding ticket, you know?

We finally got them on our lake this summer becuase of some new boating laws that came into effect. They were checking every single boat to make sure they had everything that was required. My favorite was when they stopped this dad pulling his kid on a tube with a 12' boat and a 9.9 on it that were messing up our water. They sent him packing with a warning and haven't seen him since Razz They were dicks to us at first, but when they saw that we had everything, they were nice to us, we wave everytime we see each other. Some old guy tried to get me in stuff with them too later on cause apparently I almost sunk his boat because so much water got into it, but the cops never said anything to me. Only piggies I like.

Yeah, I have them too. But the lake is pretty big, so you like never see them. I think they come out later in the day or they are in another part of the lake at the moment so you don't see them. I've only seen them when we had fireworks on the lake for 4th of July, they had to patrol the boats in case there was a problem.

In Oregon they pull you over, check your boat and then put a big ugly sticker on the back to show you've been inspected. I have not been checked yet and will break his hand if he tries to put a sticker on my boat. For the most part they are after the wally's.

My lake has to be the worst. It is about 2 miles long 1 mile wide and has 4 PATROL BOATS ON IT!!! And they all suck. One guy rides "undercover" on a jet-ski and radios the other 4 boats about illegal activity. They make a killing! They write tickets all the time since you can't swim in the lake and no one tells you about it. And the lauch has two docks... one that is too shallow, and on that you have to wait 20minutes to dock on. You think the money from the tickets would better the lake. But they have a new boat every year. Sorry about whining. I need a new lake. Crying or Very sad

i have a rage against the machine cd where they cover F- the police. by nwa. it is perfect for those times the water pigs give us crap. i got three no observer tickets last summer, all on an empty lake sammamish. they dinged my boat with their hoopty. do what i do ... tell them they have nice tans and tell them how much more money you make than them even if you don't. nothing pisses those guys off like rich A holes who don't give a crap. i don't need an observer to drive my car so what gives?

We are lucky here, I only see them out once or twice a year, and they never seem to bother anyone. Then again, there is not a lot of traffic on our lake, so there really isn't a lot for them to patrol.

They only come out like a day a month just to check everything out. And when they are out everyone tells everyone else to watch out.

I do not really see them very often, only rarely on the weekends. they pulled my friend over who was riding my waverunner (sorry) because he wasn't wearing a vest and did not have that little red thing on his wrist, he totally deserved it. Otherwise, if you have a tournament level wakeboard boat it really should comply with all the rules no problem. I think the easiest thing to overlook is that many boarding life jackets say right on them that they are NOT lifeguard approved and therefore do not count towards that "one jacket per person." rule. So you need to have enough USCG approved vests on board.

For the most part we have not been hasslled here in Austin. Back in 420 cove in jonestown they are d*cks. They will pull yo over to tell you you have to be 50ft from shore on both sides. They will bitch and tell you that they can ticket you for your wake cashing aginst the docks.... They suck! The main LCRA cops are pretty cool. They do not hassle you to much.

The cops on lake samammish are only out like 10 times, if that, during the summer. Its on the hottest, busiest days when you couldn't really wakeboard any way. I just gotta watch out when im riding at night, i've heard of a few people getting big tickets for that. does any one know how much the ticket is? hope i don't get one, knock on wood. 'knock, knock'

If someone doesn't have enough life vests in their boat, and the boat sinks/flips over, it's their fault for being stupid or putting themselves in that position, life goes on. Same thing with weighting a boat, if it sinks or flips over, persons fault and problem for being stupid, why should the police have anything to do with it? That goes along with anything else governing a lake.

Folsom Lake in Ca on a maximum enforcement weekend like Memorial Day or the 4th of July will have up to 8 Enforcement Boats. The lake borders 3 counties and is a state park. So all the counties have boats and jet ski's, along with the State Park boats and jet skis.

We have a few on our lakes , but I have to say that they are pretty cool to you as long as you are not breaking the law. The best thing about our lake police is they have a chip on their shpoulders in regards to jet skis, which of course is good for us fellow boarders. If they see a lake roach jumping our wake to close or doing anything pretty much even petty stuff, they get a ticket almost everytime. If you wave to them they wave back. Sometimes they even sit around and watch us do our thing. So I have to say ours are pretty cool, at least with our boat we have never encountered one bad thing with them.

Have a couple on our lake. Only saw them once last summer...as they were writing me a ticket. Pulling a skiier after dark...even though they could see us half a mile away. Rednecks with badges-
