I'm sure many of you watched the thread from last year. I figured I'd start a new one for this year.

Here's some pictures from our first outing of the year. We went yesterday to the lake and braved the wind and cool water to get out and get a couple pulls. The water was in the mid 50's and the air was low 70's. The wind was a factor...we were fighting 17-20 mph winds, but knew a spot around the corner from a launch area that was usually pretty smooth in those conditions. It turned out good and we were able to have some fun. My older son and I both braved it in our suits. This is the first time for either of us getting in the water with wetsuits. The only part of me that was uncomfortable were my hands. I just kept them out of the water My son said it was about the same for him. The boat pulled nice and we're anxious to get more used to the wake of our first inboard. Seems to me like we might be able to shorten the rope a bit. We decided to try it full length for our first time.

He is 9. He hasn't gone W2W yet, but that is something he wants to accomplish this year.

MasonH, LOL! Did you get a long sleeve top or short sleeve? I'm not sure I would go in without full coverage on my legs and arms. But, the next couple weeks could warm the water up another 10 degrees if we stay in the 70's or 80's.

Okie Boarder, its a long sleeve.

Jet-Pilot F22 series. It's 2mm thick.

And you just made my night, That would be amazing if we could get that 70-80 weather now.

But I think there supposed to be ONE more cold front then we will start to get to the good stuff. But I am not sure though.

Looking at the weather, it looks like we'll be cold through Tuesday and Wed-Sun is supposed to be 60s and 70s. We'll see.

With that top, I'd say your arms and chest will feel comfortable, but you will probably notice it on your legs.

Look on ebay and see what you can find if you're low on funds. I got mine on ebay for around $50 shipped. It's the O'Neill Farmer John bottom, long sleeve jacket, and shorts...all 2mm.

I'm not sure if they sell just bottoms or not, but you could just buy the Farmer John and slip the heater top over it on the top.

Your son looks like he's having a blast. I hope to get my girlfriend's daughter riding sometime next season. I'm going to try and get her to just ride with me this year. When I was a kid my dad used to put me on the front of his skis. That started my love for the water and skimming across the top of it!

I hear ya. This will be his third season. Our younger one got up a couple times last year, but mostly rode the kneeboard. I think he is going to be more inclined to ride the wakeboard more this year. It doesn't matter that much to me as long as they are enjoying themselves. That's what our lake time is all about!

How old is your GF's daughter?

COol! I did follow your thread last year. I assume your wife is like mine...she aint getting in the water for another 2 months.

Less than 2 weeks for me to go in...My drysuit and I are waiting for the boat to be done.

ctgretzky99, you've got that right! She said she doesn't care how "great" the wetsuit is, she's not interested in getting in the water right now. Last year she got in around mid to late May. We didn't have the wetsuits then and we were in around mid May (My son and I). She might be willing to get in around early May wearing the wetsuit, but I don't expect to see her in the water at all in April.

				| Okie Boarder, I'm low on the cash at the moment haha. But I'm going to for sure TRY to go in 2 or 3 weeks. If it's too cold, screw it. I'll just ride around in the boat.

Here's some pictures and links to videos from outing number two. We filled our ballast bags this time. We placed our 250# bag on the drivers side and 350# on the passenger side, of the motor box. We had a friend with us so she and the kids, or I, moved around to balance the weight and make the wake even. We had a great time! We stayed out for a couple hours. I took two sets and our older son did one.

I know huh? I had to push him a little on Saturday to get in because he didn't want to be cold, but he tore it up for a good set and had fun. Got back in the boat with a big 'ol smile on his face.

If you watch his jump video you can see the potential he has for going W2W. He just needs to get that aggressive cut at the end and hold on with both hands and I think he'll clear it.

Any comments on my W2W with the crash? I think I'm cutting hard a little early and still letting up some in the end.

Hey Okie... nice pics / vids. Is this on Skiatook lake? I usually end up on Tenkiller during the summer but was looking for something close to hit up during the week with my options being Skiatook or Ft. Gibson.

Yup, Skiatook. It's a nice lake and has a lot of good areas to ride that get blocked from the wind and chop from the main part of the lake. If you ever want to meet up with us let me know and I can show you some of the good spots.

I don't get to take delivery of the new ride until the end of this month but after that I might take you up on the offer. I live in BA and skiatook and ft. gibson are just about the same distance apart... Skiatook looks much cleaner and less prone to the flooding than Gibson.

Sounds good. Hit me up when you're ready. Skiatook is much cleaner and is a little less likely to flooding.

Wow, your little man is getting good at board control. As for the jump you posted, just looks like your timing is off a bit, like you are trying to pop a little to soon.

LOL! Sure thing, as long as you pay my gas cost to get down there. Hopefully we'll make it down for SPF this year though. I might have to catch up with ya and try a pull or two behind that Nautique of yours though.

JeffreyCH, yeah. He is doing so much better at board control and he is really confident out there. The only thing I see he can do to improve it to step out of his comfort zone and push it a bit to that next level. I'm struggling with how to get him to do that. I tell him, but he just looks at me like I don't know what I'm talking about because I'm just his Dad and don't know anything...LOL!

Hmmm, timing off huh? Seems logical. I did a couple W2W jumps we didn't get on video that seemed so smooth and easy. I wonder how those would have looked if I could have watched them back?

Okie Boarder, Hope to see you down there this year man! Just look for a short curly haired dude. IDK what my uncle would say if I asked him to give a guy I met on a message board and his family a pull

Nah but seriously, would like to see ya at SPF this year man!

Agreed. It looked like you slid out some while heading in toward the wake-like you gave up some speed and edging because of it. Looks like you also let off of your edge right before you hit the wake.

Is your new wake the biggest wake you've tried to jump? I know the first time I rode behind a boat with a bigger wake than mine, I spent the first day letting off my edge right at the last minute. Me thinking "Man that wake is BIG" got into my head and had me scared and tentative. I was afraid to eat it hard.

My buddy got me over it by telling me to think, "That wake is so big, I'm gonna FLY" instead of thinking about it in a way that scared me. Worked for me.

Keep the posts coming, Okie. It has been a blast to watch you get better and better with each video you post. And get that damned handle on your hip!

MasonH, I'll let you know if we decide to come down and exchange contact info. Maybe we can tie up and watch the comp. We might put the little man in if we feel he will do OK.

STANG KILLA SS, I'll keep that in mind. I did that a couple times last year and it worked well. I need to focus on that a bit again.

pet575, no, I've been on slightly bigger wakes. I think that is part of what I'm doing that I have to get over. I keep trying to put that handle on my hip but really struggle. I'm not sure if it is a strength or focus thing. Glad you're enjoying the progress. It was cool to look through last years videos when I posted these and see the difference. By the way, how did your Royals do?

K-dub, thanks! I'm loving this new board and bindings.

Marshall, WTF are you talking about?

Okie, I think it is more focus than anything. You do it on your way out away from the wake. No reason you can't do it going the other way.

My Royals lost the home opener. But, we've gotten used to them losing over the years.

pet575, I like what you said about focus and what you said about "Wanting" to go big. I'm going to try that next time and kind of think of it like the harder I edge, the more I load the line and the more I stand tall at the wake, the further I get to go. If I think of it like I'm trying to jump way out in the flats and I desire that instead of ANY fear, maybe that will get me where I need to go.

Sorry about your Royals. Even a bad day at the ball park...
