THIS SHOW KICKS ASS.

I encourage everyone to check it out so it doesn't get canceled. it's on FX. Not sure of the date and time, as I just TiVo it, but I think it's on tonight.

A chunk of that show is filmed on the street right behind my sis-in-law's house.

Why they live in the barrio, I have no idea! Laughing

On demand as well. Makes it easy to follow a series.

Peg Bundy plays a great part.

disagree about it kicking ass. i guess w/ all hollywood shows we need to suspend belief, but this one asks A LOT of the viewer.

they are in the middle of nowhere running guns to whom? VERY sneaky operation they have going on there where they can't be more obvious and open about handling the aks. just pull them out and show them off every chance they get. and they are moving like 5 and 10 at a time? wtf?

no cops? and the ones that are involved are on the take. killing and shooting left and right, w/ only one group of suspects, but no one ever gets arrested. they had a full on shoot out and not a single cop even appeared. ok...

they "fake" a killing to divert attention away from something else...but don't want outside cops to start focusing on them? they are this ruthless gang, but there's been no murders in their town for years and years...but just now they start shooting up the town like it's dodge city?

for a group of bikers, they have the newest, cleanest jackets, w/ the nicest, untattered patches i've ever seen.

the roles are so cliche it's funny. especially peggy bundy. she's the biker mom version of horatio cane. so ridiculous, you have to love her. her husband, the leader, is a walking cartoon.

now, i watch it because it's mindless entertainment and fx has pretty much earned my viewing trust by now, but as far as being a great show, not even close. decent, and nothing else is on in that time slot against it.

yea, she's pretty good.

They move guns to gangs. I don't know anything about gun running, but I imagine the guns have to come from somewhere....I don't know. they also deal meth and stuff, it appears. IN episode one we met one of their gun buying clients.

They move the guns in a truck hidden with other shipments. Also in episode 1, I think.

The chief is on the take, and his soon to be replacement and a federal agent are trying to take SAMCRO down. It's a small town in the middle of nowhere, apparently, with a small police force.

Quote:

Yea, aside from the federal agent who witnessed it, that was weird and unrealistic. Although they were in the middle of the nevada desert....

yup, that is weird.

I still love it. It's no more cliche than Rescue Me, another great FX show. Or the Shield, another great FX show. They are all there pretty cliche, but they work, IMO.

the shield >>rescue me>>>>>>sons of anarchy

both of those shows deal w/ stuff that actually happens (you know, fires and dirty cops), they just have dramaticized storylines. soa is just completely unrealistic, w/ way too many holes to be believed as anything other than total fiction. which is fine, and how i see it. i like the show, but a great tv it's not.

thanks for the breakdown cb. those were rhetorical questions/observations - i've seen every episode. what gangs are out in the middle of the desert that need guns a handful at a time? and that tiny amount keeps this big biker gang funded? you can buy ak-47s all over the place - you don't need a biker gang to do that. the dirty sheriff w/ the do good deputy? c'mon Rolling Eyes

I would say that the shield was the best until last season. I think it's sort of sucking lately. I still like it, but I'm less enthusiased than I used to be about it.

I don't find "the shield" to be very believable either, though. A cop who kills another cop (2x) and doesn't get caught....In the real world, most cops never even pull their guns with the intent to shoot. Yet this guy pulls his and shoots at someone nearly every episode?

Every tv show has to be unrealistic to varrying degrees, otherwise why watch tv?

I don't know much about gangs and how they get their guns, so I don't really care if they do or don't get them from bikers. Some Hells Angels have been indighted for gun running in the past though, so I imagine it does happen somehow.

They also run a mechanic and auto body business.
If you can buy them all over the place, where do they come from? I don't know. But they have to get moved somehow, right?

Regardless of whether or not it passes the JT09 reality test, I like it. Guns, fights, semi-nude women, motorcycles, and that hot ass doctor...what's not to like?

It's not like CSI or any of those shows are any more or less innacurate...

I'm with jt09, was not impressed - they made it look good I checked it out and was very disappointed...

A great concept but they fall way short of anything close to being believable...

I wonder what real bikers think of the show....ha ha ha.... I'll ask a few this weekend when I'm playn lumber jack in the woods with my new STIHL.

I am with JT on this.

However, I find most tv shows unbelievable in nature. Some of this shi t they pawn off on us is a joke.

If you guys want the GANG show I would suggest Gangland. Now that is some serious shi t. They did a show on the Mongols last night.

Sons of Anarchy is good to watch on demand. I am certain I would not stay home to watch an episode.

Entourage is good, but the episodes are 22 minutes long. I want more after I am done watching an episode.

Wow, what a crappy business model that show's developers have!

Razz

LOVE the shield, and this season is doing pretty damn good in my book..last season was definitely iffy, but they're pulling it back in to good stuff for me. Didn't get NEARLY as far out of whack as Nip Tuck did, holy CRAP.. that chit turned into daytime soaps!

I really enjoy this show! true it can be very cheesy at times but it is pretty intense and keeps me coming back for more every time. I don't like the shoot outs though because they are completely unrealistic and somewhat stupid. Is that scar on the moms chest the actors scar or is it part of the show? I was just wondering if i missed something.

I'm bringing nothing to the table apart from saying the adverts I saw for this show before it came out were among the cheesiest/most cliché I saw while I was living over there. The dialogue made me cringe every time.

It looked like the kind of show I'd have a very hard time taking seriously.

Kind of like watching a train wreck. I'll probably watch another episode of it tonight though. Like someone else said, everything's too new looking for this to be a real MC.

barely watching this tonight. flipping back and forth between soa and the amc channel - breaking bad marathon. not THAT's a good show - perfect example of how to take some crazy, unbelievable shlt and make you really dig it.

I really like the show....watch it every week.

I don't really go into it thinking its realistic....I mean a biker gang in a 8000 people town of Charming? C'mon....but, it's TV...supposed to be entertaining.

And this show entertains the crap out of me.

jerky jerk off was f'n hysterical.

And I think I'm getting a 'thing' for Peg Bundy....kind of disturbing. She's bad ass.

I liked the "knife or fire." That was the whole episode.
